I did get free Agri from a hut, some money and other useless stuff (map, exp)
Settled 3-food site -- on what turned out to be the horse which wasn't a big surprise.
Oracled Currency cus I wasn't going to go to war, and I had nothing good to build besides wealth to keep the research going.

Plan : Peace Vassal my entire continent. To do that, you need double their land %, so I used my IMP trait to grab land.
I got the northern copper site and the triple seafood on the east coast, and all the way over to the Sugars and down to the Gold.
Inca
captured a beautiful Fur city from barbs. That was supposed to be mine, but somehow he killed 3 archers with 1 archer. Maybe I missed the Quechua passing thru.

Final Plan: Bulb Astro, conquer with 'knights'.

Simply nothing better in CIV than popping a coastal hut and getting maps of the barren ocean. :crazyeye: At least I knew there was a landmass there for offshore GLH cities.

I got about 200 bucks in coins, experience, and animal husbandry. By the time I settled the island the hut there had a barb Warrior protecting it, which I decided to save for an attempt at astronomy.

I also spammed Cities but HC discovered Buddhism and built Stonehenge and I didn’t like his encroachment toward me so I decided to target him. Captured his capital 800 BC, built GLH in Cuzco 400 BC, but I got the marble online too late to use it for the Oracle so I missed on that.

Oh, I also got the War Chariots quest. Build 8 chariots before you enter the classical age. Each chariot gets combat one and if you have a state religion five cities get the religion. I built the eight chariots to Capture Cuzco and settle a city four tiles from it to get all those flood planes before he did. I also researched writing an open borders so I would get religion spread but no such luck. The combat one promotion was cool because by the time I get five XP it’s combat three by the time 10 XP it’s combat four. I now have several of those and I’m saving them to upgrade to Cataphracts.

1AD about 10 cities.

I settled 3N2E from the starting location, on the river with pig, corn, the horses and the hills, quite a nice spot. Huts gave me no less than 5 maps, another scout, fishing, about 400 in cash and hostilities on the island.

I went for quite early alpha which I thought was smart, only to find out that none of the AIs was willing to trade anything, not even stuff like hunting. I even checked the settings to make sure I hadn't missed anything, lol. So I decided to go with horse archers and extract some techs. Eventually I did get some minor trades just before declaring war, but that was too late for my first victim, HC. I conquered his 3 city empire, with stonehenge in Cuzco and built the GLH there afterwards. To not let the HAs sit idle too much I declared on the Ottomans and captured his 3 most important cities out of 6 and temporarily signed peace for some smaller techs.

At 1AD I'm at 12 cities (55 pop) with one settler en route for a second city on the island. I'm a bit understaffed in the worker department with just 8. Tech is up to CoL, Calendar and Currency, crawling to CS now. Happiness was a bit of a problem with just gold and ivory, at least can get some plantation resources up and running soon.

Settled the horse spot like WT. 3 food resources and a nice set of hills for our Imp leader.
Popped AH, in time to improve the pig after the wet corn. Popped 300gold all together, and some irrelevant stuff. The gold is very helpful to keep tech going while also expanding.

Did only peaceful expansion, no wonders.
At 1AD 14 cities. I'm close to taking 2 barb cities as well. There's still space for a few more in the island and that will be it. This many cities hurts science, but I'm more in pop growing mode now, cottage developing etc. That will help a lot, 71 pop currently.
I got the library quest. I will pass the required number soon, while far away from GreatLib, which I will probably not build at all. As far as I can remember there's a tiny reward anyhow..
The continent is all buddhist, except Cyrus, no spread to him yet.
Techwise crawling to Civil Service, might be 8-10 turns away still. Got Calender/Currency/Monarchy, no Aest or MC.

Ah yes, thanks for looking this up. I knew and find especially result 1 a disappointing one that you see with several quests. It's not worth to detour for. It would be a whole lot more interesting if all contributing or all current at completion (that could be more) buildings of the type would get the reward.
With GLib, I don't kniow, I suppose the specialist is decent, but only for a while, since GLib obsoletes. Not worth to commit to either if you're not close by with the way you've played.

My sentiments exactly. Even the free ancient era tech might be relatively useless by the time you have seven libraries. I suppose you could delay sailing, for example. Or beeline alpha.

War Chariots is actually pretty good, especially if you can get the free five religions. The free combat one promotion on a chariot is excellent for future super medics. Not only do you get the promotion on all eight chariots but I managed to have nine at the same time, one of which already had a combat one promotion, and the program was good enough to give it to the other eight.

The only WW I tried for was Great Lighthouse. Missed by 1 turn. Seeing the other nearby landmass, I quickly went for sailing and settled it. But I did a lot of expansion. Fortunately, Huts gave me lots of gold. Masonry the only tech. Some (more) scouts, some maps, and some hostiles. At 1 AD I am geared up for a war on Persia with catapults and horse archers. Get that GLH one way or another. :cowboy: Soon some elephants. Inca are annoyingly scarfing up WW's and could become a problem. Ottomen are friendly and trades give me a comfortable tech lead. And the future is so bright, I gotta wear shades! :cooool:

Seeing all the forests, my initial plan was to tech HBR and bulb mathematics. This is a great strategy and even works at deity. Instead, I was swayed by the war chariots quest. My chariot attack against HC was thwarted when my chariots found four walled archers at 1000 BC (with a lot of culture). I missed out on the Pyramids, but I built the GLH and began settling the nearby continent for the nice trade routes.

I started this game late, after getting home from my first vacation since BC (Before Covid).

I did take the Contender save, and the huts gave me lots of gold, along with fishing, masonry, and mining. And a very helpful map of the ocean. One scout got eaten by a bear. I'll try to save the other to become a great healer.

I settled on the PH to the northeast. Expanded to six cities before declaring war on Suleiman. I captured a border city, but realized I needed catapults to press my attack, so by 1 AD I haven't gotten any further.
