Fun game.

Upon loading the starting save and examining the world wonders distribution, I found no reason to sail towards the hostile nations.
Coin flip sent me towards the "Christmas Present" direction. Met Bob Cratchit (Gandhi) t5. London founded t8, on a coastal PH SE of Delhi. Sent our galley scouting N then realized Delhi was undefended at size 2. Warrior boarded galley and captured Delhi (with Colossus) t11.

Met the remaining AI in the BC's: Tiny Tim (Mali), Fan (Germany, played by her son Fred;)) and Bella (Spain).
From their starting locations, I would think the signs at the starting position were misleading, as the pleased AIs (Gandhi and Mansa) were to the SW and the cautious to the W? Or maybe it was just referring at the stance towards Scrooge from the book's characters?

Anyways, in the BC years we tried to expand peacefully and had 9 cities and some 60 pop by 1AD. Tech is up to CS, Machinery and Compass.

Almost the same. I didn't dare to go straight at Gandi's empty capital. The galley was moving south for further exploration so no ampibious assault option for me. So I wailted till I had 6 warriors and took Delhi at T33. Meanwhile Gandi got his 1st GM and I had to kill him. Later I beelined for HBR to take the GLH from MM.

Unfortunately when I came back home from Christmas, the computer I played this game on presented itself with a much dreaded boot error that I can't seem to fix, so I'm afraid I won't be finishing this one. :(

I do remember also getting Delhi very early, as I settled on the same PH as C63 and Jimmy Th did and seeing the city empty I just sailed there after reboarding the warrior. I invaded the German Fan and got his three cities with chariots, eliminating first a northern one at bronze while it was still defended only by warriors. I seem to recall I had 12 cities and 74 pop at 1AD, but obviously can't check anymore. I had left Tiny Mansa alive despite his nice GLH as he was a good trading partner. On to B284 for me. ;)

I am apparently the only moron of the group, can anyone let me know if being defeated on turn 9 is a bad outcome :) As you can guess, I decided that there must be some advantage to settling with the minor civs, so away I went (I've also never played always war or with minor civs before). For some reason I was tempted by a goody hut and thought, surely I can grab that, but alas as soon as my warrior moved away, an enemy appeared and my fate was sealed. Oh well, I did make a second attempt with better knowledge and that was fun, but I will not be submitting my appallingly bad outcome!

CC, rest assured, you are NOT the only moron of the group. I did the same thing, other than perhaps dying a turn or two later than you. ;) And I will likewise not be submitting my game. God bless us, every one!
