In the BC years, we managed to build up a good lead over the rest of the AI, thanks to the adventurer save bonus and also due to the smartly crafted "river" which kinda protected us from the southern AIs.

We finished our wars of conquest in 500AD, eliminating Pacal. From then on, game emphasis was to rebuild our economy and play catch-up in tech with Hannibal and Justinian. The latter got friendly to us, mostly due to shared religion, and we got stuff up to Rocketry from him, on our way to a space victory.

We finished our Apollo Program in 1610AD and would launch our ship in less than 10 turns after that.

But as a nice surprise, Hannibal (who was 3rd in pop, after us and Justinian, who had 2 vassals by then) built the UN. So we accepted this "gift", got elected SG and won a Diplo victory with the help of Justinian in 1640AD.

Many thanks to @kcd_swede for this very enjoyable game!

This was/is one to seperate men from boys, women from girls, and wanna bees from has beens. I look forward to other games where we explore what is actually possible without the imminent threat of "game over". If Civ7 newness is not for us, we always have BoTM. Not saying that s us at the Bottom, just that many of us still hope to enjoy more of these games where we know what we are doing and enjoy the challenge knowing that just surviving is sometimes the most honorable outcome. I think Conq67 is maybe the one to lead us into the light. Congrats... the game isn't over or published, but the cream rises to the top, as they say. Good luck when all is said and done. I have enjoyed your triumph(s) even if I can still only dream of being able to compete at that level. :hatsoff::worship:

After capturing 5 cities, Hammurabi surrendered to me. Pacal had feudalism long before me but he didnt tech construction. Siege battle without catapults means heavy casualties. I guess that's why Hammurabi didn't surrender to Pacal. Then I dow on GK. He surrendered after losing newly captureed Opis to me. Then I realised I made a terrible mistake. Hammurabi gave me drama along with his capitualtion. I forgot drama unlockes philosophy which means my GS can't bulb engineering.
As I was busy preparing for the next war against Liz, Justinian, Musa and Pacal started plotting almost simultaneously. Thanks
to the smartly crafted "river"
Mongolia would become a buffer zone if either of them was against me. Luckily, Justinian attacked MM and bribed Mehmud to join the war. I begged 10 gold from Pacal and his war fist disappeared. As I was busy with the British, I saw Mehmud's reinforcement, a stack of 15-ish maceman+15i-ish catapults. GK opened border with Mehmud but the option to cancel deal with Mehmud was not there(10 turn cooldown I guess). Ottoman's reinforcement immediately broke the stalemate. He quickly took 1 city from Musa. When Ottoman's 2nd stack of 20-ish Janissary started moving across GK's territory, I asked GK to close border just to keep them all busy.

Diplo win 1802, shortly before I was going to attack Mehmed with tanks. Just tried to submit but got an error saying the March 1 [sic] deadline had passed. I thought the Most Potent and Serene kcd was going to fix that? Then again, maybe it's that I'm running on a REALLY old machine and browser and the software just isn't passing muster anymore. For example, I couldn't write this Final Spoiler message on the game computer, which hasn't happened before (or maybe I just always write on this one). Anyway, if I should try again to submit, let me know.

My Adventurer win pales compared to those of my betters, but I'll take it. As I said in the First Spoiler, I'd throttled Pacal, and then wiped him out after 1 AD. England was next and capitulated, and then Genghis and Mansa (or maybe the other way around). That left the big boy, Justinian, and his vassals Mehmed and Hannibal. Fortunately, I had a monopoly on Artillery for quite awhile and was eventually able to grind him down enough to capitulate. During that war, Hannibal broke free and I took peace with him, and Mehmed, although being relatively backward, chewed up one of my big stacks enough that I left him alone. After Justy capped, I healed and was concentrating my dispersed stacks to attack Mehmed when the UN vote came up, and I figured, yeah, let's take the quick way.

Thanks, kcd. It was kind of a slog, but victory is sweet. Let me know if I should try submission again.

Didn't finish, couldn't have submitted if I had. And it was adventurer save so I couldn't have gotten a shield or an ambulance anyway so doesn't matter.
Not being able to submit didn't inspire me to find the time to finish this one. Or if there was a way to submit during the extension it wasn't made apparent. It said the same "Submissions closed" on the Gotm page then and now.

Hi to all, if you have a save finished on or before 15 March, you can attach it to a PM to me and I will include your results when I publish. I know the system wasn't updated with the offered extension, so you could not submit via the normal procedure. I will give you all a week or so to get those to me by PM, and I will then manually upload them to go through the normal vetting process when published. Sorry about that... I missed updating the server with the extension.
