I haven't played one of these in ages but thought I'd give this a go as I've never played this map script. Learned a lot of stuff as I went in terms of the strange tile yields. Was pretty surprised by how much toroidal impacts city maintenance even on Monarch. Ended up with a 960AD conquest after attacking with construction. Didn't tech much further, or at least none of the other tech I got was relevant!

Hey! I finished a game for the first time in ages. Unlike some I enjoyed the fantasy map. Required a bit of thinking and lots of workers. Early IW. I played a rather psychotic game. Maybe because of the toroidal map. Pretty confusing figuring out where your cities are after you're buttered all over the place. Domination victory in the 1700s. Mostly I just enjoyed the game. Think I lost four super medics to misclicks and other stupidities. Didn't even let it bother me. Lost my second city to Famine who was at .1 health. I actually had had a warrior garrisoned but I decided to explore a neighboring AI thinking erroneously that the HA would attack my city before 3 cities per player were on the map. Luckily I had already grown it to pop2 and captured it right back. Lost a granary in the process and hammers into something else. Oh well.

THe AIs were pretty stupid on this map. COUldn't tech very fast. THanks for the game, MG.

About half way through the game I realized someone would get a really early conquest, I had no idea that fantasy setting would slow the AI down that much, their teching was just pitiful. My army wound up being way overpowered, especially by the end with a conquest date of somewhere around 1600. Was it the fantasy settings threw the AI off that much? Or just a coincidence? I've never actually played through a fantasy realm game before.

I considered going for space, but a some point got tired of the confusion while moving units due to the toroidal wrap, and ended up going for a Diplo victory in the 15xx's, after conquering/vassaling most of the AIs except Asoka.

Most unexpected moment was a few turns after the elimination of Roosevelt: Victoria, who had fought that war on my side, declared on me! After conquering all but one of her cities, I took peace for some tech and let her live, but then she peace vassaled to Asoka, and later I learned they shared favorite civic Vassalage, so I'm almost certain she got Alex's personality.

Aaaahhhhhh!:help: I had mixed parts joy, frustration, vindication and want just one more turn. How many years have I played this game? I guess I'm too busy having fun to actually learn anything. I kinda miss the SGOTM's since that was a way to force me to think rather than just act out emotionally. But really, I love the game because it lets me act out. 1814AD domination win. I keep playing for domination since one day I will be the last man standing and actually earn an eptathalon... I just need to live longer than all you competent players. lol
I had tons of fun and really appreciate other mapmakers making it possible for me. But yeah, the Death horseman really ruined my day. Not really, I need to sometimes just blast the bad guys to give me faith in mankind. I think my score was circa 89500. I remember when that would have made me proud. But I did have fun with rifles against longbows... cannons and cavalry against weenies, and love the respite from making maps. I will play all of these BOTM's that I can, while doing Civ7 stuff that I don't really understand. Thank you for the game, and wish I was focused enough to make a mark... but better to have fun than to be competitive. I had fun. Thanks for a challenging scenario! :old:
