Even I haven't managed to die yet.
Nothing goes well. Failed oracle by 1 turn. GWall was useless, so is the Gspy it gave. Artemis and Lighthouse are nothing to write home about. Founded Hinduism, Butt-ism went before that and only recently found out who invented it. Other religion is Judaism, Hammy founded that and spread it to the south and to Shaka. Others are pretty much hindus for now.
A few cities, won't mention the low number in vain attempt to avoid ridicule. Will not win this one anyway. Far behind in tech and no military power worth talking about. Amusingly I stole 3 workers from barbs with a single warrior over time.
Haven't made war to kcd...ahem Ragnar yet. Declared to Hammy to please Shaka, also Stally wars with Hammy. GK invades Shaka and they both conquer the numerous barb cities to the west. Still one aggressor (rival civ) unmet.

I of course settled the Marble... no-brainer! Love the massively expansive space and endless lush lands we have to settle :crazyeye:
I went direct to Alphabet.... had to tech nearly all the worker techs so felt at Immortal with 6 AI already met there was no other choice, didn't Oracle anything...didn't even try!

At 1ad I have 6 cities and am about to get Construction....

After that.... an Elepult express is about to hit Ragnar. Its do or die! He has GLH, Colossus and the Kashi, seeing that the 6 visible AI and myself are all Hindu.... I am expecting/hoping that will solve all my cash issues.

Otherwise, I have just tried to keep the unit spammer -Shaka- happy, which got me involved in a war against Hammy, but hey.... you have got to know when to dogpile!!!

Had a go at this! OH man.. a sticky situation indeed! A great map!
Welcome to the Games!

Here you can be open about everything up to 1AD. Please tell us more.... what strategy did you start out with and how has it evolved? Where did you settle and was it good, or do you feel like something else would work better? Tech pat? Anything that helps others understand your game and learn from it.:scan:

Settled on marble, #2 on copper to E with 2 fish--will eventually be my Nat'l Epic with all that food. GLH went here 800 BC. City #3 was SW with wheat, cow, dye--will likely be Heroic Epic city. #4 went NW on desert with corn and spice. 7 cities total, including #6 on eastern end of Raggy's island down south, with fish and deer; total pop 33.

22 techs including Construction and Currency; working on MC now. Mids went 25 BC in Moscow, I think. Statue of Zeus 50 BC to Shaka. Oracle went 900 BC to GKhan. I sent a GM trade mission recently and am making 121 bpt and -66 gpt at 100% research with 731g in the bank. Mongolia is #1 in score with 650, Zulus #2 600, Vikings 570, Celts 420. Haven't met last AI but can see his culture offshore.

Shaka DoW'd me 200 BC, focusing on city#3 (on a hill). Defending it hasn't been much of a problem but, boy, he does spam the units, don't he? GKahn and Raggy are likely to pull away in tech, I fear. This is gonna be a toughie. No problems with barbs, though. This time I didn't send any settlers into their waiting arms. :mischief:

I was originally thinking about going after Raggy but with Shaka on my case I think the window of opportunity, if there ever was one, is gone--not going to be able to gain a military tech advantage for quite awhile, if ever. For now, just survive, then try to wear down Shaka and gain a tech advantage while he neglects his research.

I gambled with 2 initial warriors to grab a worker from Genghis. However, a worker was escorted by an Archer.
Then I messed up starting techs and my worker didn't have anything to do for almost 10T. I always forget how awful Celt starting techs are. Anyway, a slower start overall than what it should be.
My plan was getting to Construction and Elephants. I didn't want to tech Alpha as every beaker counts on a map this commerce scarce. I even settled GScientist as he was contributing more than 20% of research.

However, I am not used to Immortal as I play on Deity and have overestimated teching abilities from the AIs. Also, no one wanted to trade anything for a long time. Then I realized there were extra AIs in the game and one is obviously isolated as there were a lot of : We don't want to trade this tech just yet.". That is most likely Toku as he is the only Aggressive AI missing and he must be on islands. Anyway, I got Construction and HBR but my attack date is crippled by at least 12T.
Since Vikings have Longbows and strong bpt, I am Friendly with them and hope that they will help me to catch up after some warring.
I decided to attack GK because Viking's LBs are too strong, Zulu make too much Impi for War Elephants and also I don't want to have too large of a front for later wars. Also, GK was about to become Runaway AI as he had space to settle/capture barbs for more than 14 cities.

Somehow nothing went as planned. Win date will suffer. Whoever (luckily) Oracles Construction will have so much easier time.
What I did well was spawnbusting. I had only one fight and won against a Panther.

Moving along with noobiephants here :)

Quiet some rare stuff happened in my game, i oracled HBR late (best option at that point) cos of marble (settle on) and having myst already.
But i went pottery first for floodplain cottages and granaries (good happy caps).

At turn ~85 i decided Rags first, and he got longbows while i attacked
Jumbopult is so strong thou, was nps.
Built a shrine in his holy Juda city with my oracle great prophet, i almost never do that ~~

Then Shaka next, other AIs teched much slower but he had many more units.
Not doing bad, it's a challenging map i could not resist.
Very much not cooked, limited land and overall much thinking involved how to best move on.
