Boudica's UB not working--FF CTD

I don't know if this has been reported already, but it wasn't in the consolidated bug list. Playing Boudica I recently noticed that the UB does not give any units the Guerilla I promotion automatically as described in the tooltip. I'm using the 303 patch and have tried this with and without solvers unofficial patch as well.

On a completely unrelated note I am also getting CTD anytime I attempt to create a custom Final Frontier game ever since the 303 patch. I have tried multiple leaders and settings and it crashes every time. I'm beginning to think the 303 patch broke more things than it fixed.

:hmm: Are you sure it does not give guerilla I to archers? This has already confused people in Warlords - that the UB cannot give that promotion to melee units because they cannot get them (apart from the celt's UU of course)...
And: Welcome to CFC :band: :dance:

Edit: Re the crash, does this only happen in FF - or also in other mods shipping with the game or a normal game?

Yes I tried this with the archer as well no free promo.
**edit**
I have tried each of the units available at the time. So is the Dun just worthless then? Other traits have given other unit types promos they hadn't been eligible for before. Protective gives gunpowder units first strike capabilities in warlords though they didn't have those normally until BtS. You would think the Dun tooltip would say archery/(gunpowder?) units if they didn't give ALL units the promo as the tooltip states.

I've played The Next War and Rhyse and Fall (sp?) since the 303 patch and they work fine. FF seems to be the only one effected.

Don't even get me started on the reliability of the tooltip or the Civilopedia for that sake - just three words: don't trust them ;)
I have to admit I did not yet play with either Boudica or Brennus in BtS so if that is true it does indeed sound like a bug...
As for the CTD - is there any error message?

Yes it gives the typical, this program has encountered an error and must close yadda yadda yadda.
"Sid Meier's Civilization 4 : Beyond The Sword has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I've played an arboria map with Boudica and the Dun did provide its bonus to my archery units and I believe also to my gunpowder units until obsolete. I don't recall that it gave any bonus to melee units so in that you may very well be correct.

What type of map are you playing? (map type, multiplayer, size, starting era maybe different?, things like that).

Does it ask you to send a report to microsoft? If so could you just click on "show report" and post a screenshot of the upper part of the report?

At the time I tried this it was a global highlands standard map rocky setting 12 AI.

It does and I will as soon as I get back to my home computer.

AppName: civ4beyondsword.exe AppVer: 3.0.3.1 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119 Offset: 00012a5b

The details I cannot get a copy of.

No need for the details - unfortunately an error in kernel32.dll is beyond my skills to troubleshoot.
Apparently the game for whatever reason attempts to illegally access the memory Windows reserves for itself and windows just kills it on sight - this should definitely not happen...
Spoiler some microsoft.com gibberish ;) :

The KERNEL32.DLL file is a 32-bit dynamic link library file that is found in Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millenium Edition (ME). The KERNEL32.DLL file handles memory management, input/output operations, and interrupts. When you start Windows, KERNEL32.DLL is loaded into a protected memory space so that other programs do not take over that memory space.

On occasion, you may receive an invalid page fault (IPF) error message. This error message occurs when a program tries to access the KERNEL32.DLL protected memory space. Occasionally, the error message is caused by one particular program, and other times the error message is provoked by multiple files and programs.

If the problem results from running one program, the program needs to be replaced. If the problem occurs when you access multiple files and programs, the damage is likely caused by damaged hardware.

You may want to clean boot the computer to help you identify the particular third-party memory-resident software. Note that programs that are not memory-resident can also cause IPF error messages.

The following conditions can cause KERNEL32.DLL error messages:

* Damaged swap file
* File allocation damage
* Damaged password list
* Damaged or incorrect version of the KERNEL32.DLL file
* Damaged registry
* Hardware, hot CPU, over clocking, broken power supply, RF noise, ground bounce, or bad hard disk controller
* BIOS settings for Wait states, RAM timing, or other BIOS settings
* Third-party software that is damaged or incorrectly installed
* .DLL files that are saved to the desktop
* Non-existent or broken Temp folder
* A control panel (.CPL) file is damaged
* Incorrect or damaged hardware driver
* Incorrectly installed printer drivers or HP Jetadmin drivers
* Damaged Java Machine
* Damaged .LOG files
* Damaged entries in the History folder
* Incompatible or damaged dynamic link library files
* Viruses
* Damaged or incorrect MSINFO32.EXE file
* Low disk space
* Other problems that depend on the Kernel file

I was unable to reproduce your bug. In the three testgames I started with Boudica with highland settings I was able to get the free promotion.

Thanks for trying. I guess I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the game if this is localized to my computer. maybe it will fix the FF CTD as well. The CTD is the big problem I'm not really a fan of Boudica anyway and this is only the second time I've played the Celts. I am suffering from Final Frontier withdrawals however. Thanks for the assistance gents.

I hope it solves your problems. It's really annoying when you have to resort to reinstallments when something goes wrong.
