So here's a Brazil game for you. :)

    The Brazilian historical goals are:
    1. The Golden Law: Control 10 Slave Plantations and 4 Pastures in 1880 AD
    2. Maracana, Cristo Redentor, Itaipu: Build Wembley, Cristo Redentor and the Three Gorges Dam
    3. Pindorama: Control 20 Forest Preserves and have a National Park in your capital by 1950 AD

There are exactly 10 calendar resources in Brazil so you just need 10 slaves. Normally you can buy them from the Netherlands and Congo. As for the pastures, my recommendation is that you go for Buenos Aires or Canada(as you'll see in my game). However, Ethiopia, Australia and other places can also be your targets, they are just not as rewarding and consistent with the 3rd goal.

To build the required great wonders you need to research the required technologies first. Expansion helps but wars don't as much, so expand with minimal warfare. Sometimes the Ottomans run out of control and get to be super-advanced and it's impossible for you to build the required wonders(citis mentioned this), but it's not always the case. If you see Turkey and Russia having a mutual defensive pact, you know it's time to roll another start. If not, try to play on, you should be able to do it.

The third goal asks for a lot of forest preserves. This is in part contradictory to the unique ability of Madeireiros: chopping down trees provides extra :hammers: and :gold:. To avoid this inconsistency, my idea is to chop down the worthless rainforests/jungles in Brazil and build forest preserves in the Canadian tundra forests. This strategy synergizes with Brazil's internal need for expansion, and the pre-built Administrative Center in Rio de Janeiro provides the perfect support.

Contrary to what the pop-up says, we shall preserve none of the Amazon rainforests.

As a Latin American civilization, the first thing to pay attention to is how Spain is doing. 12 cities and Montevideo, behind in tech, they are not a strong opponent.

But they do hold the canal city, Ciudad de Guatemala. We sign DP with them, so that if Portugal declares war on us during the flip, Spain would join our side and OB with us.

Joao II is doing pretty great now, but in two turns we will flip 3 more of his cities.

I feel Slavery(hurry production) and Guilds(double production speed for forge, market and fazenda) are pretty useful to Brazil.

Our "into Canada" strategy gets implemented right at the beginning of the game.

This game was played under rev.987, now it's no longer possible to use the "gift 10 gold and OB" trick.

Netherlands has a handful of slaves. We buy them with :gold:.

Joao declared war on us during the flip. Now we can open border with Spain.

We are not yet powerful enough to participate in the Congress of Ankara.

Mexico has founded the city of Oaxaca, an alternative canal city.

Notice the Administrative Center in Rio de Janerio. It's the inspiration of the whole "into Canada" strategy.

It should be easy to acquire Corporation through tech trade.

Our fleet are now in the Pacific Ocean.

    Buying world map from Kongo.

For some reason Willem van Oranje is holding back the slaves from us.

Portugal has no cities in South America. After killing their remaining units, I shall make peace with them, and hopefully they won't get crushed by the Spanish back in
    Europe.

We sign DP with Argentina, because we want to raze Spanish Montevideo soon.

Our scouting rifleman spots 5 Spanish riflemen in the city. There are a few roaming units as well.

Argentina has a huge army, I need more preparation before moving on to them.

A settler from Rio de Janeiro founds the city of Brasilia(on the usual spot).

The first step of the "into Canada" strategy is settling the Pacific coast. The city of Los Angeles is founded.

Education in exchange of slave. Hehe.

Compared to Spain in Montevideo, Napoleon has much fewer units in French Cayenne. We declare war on him first.

France has defensive pact with Germany, and we have successfully dragged Argentina and Spain into this war.

    Cayenne is burnt down.

Our first great general Duque de Caxias is born in Recife.

He helps construct a military academy in Sao Paulo.

Never mind the name. We found a city on the Sonoma tile. This tile is no target of the American Railroad conquerors(while Los Angeles IS), and will not flip to Canada

    either.

It has been a while and forges, levees and other important buildings have been built in our cities in mainland Brazil. We switch to Fanaticism+Free Market for controlled religion spread, faster unit production and better economy.

Selling coffee to the sleepy Chinese.

The problem with not running Fanaticism is the random Protestantism spread. It takes some effort to remove the religion.

Finally the Dutch agree to our purchase of slaves. There are 10 calendar resources within Brazilian border and there goes the 10 slave plantations.

But right now we only have 2 pastures: 1 horse in Brazil, and 1 cow near Sonoma. The advantage of the "into Canada" strategy is that it works perfectly under situations where Spain and/or Argentina have strong military and it's hard to acquire the cows and horses near Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

With some grenadiers joining our forces, a war with Spain is inevitable.

There's a lot information in this screenshot. A second persecution has been successful. Forests have been chopped down. We are focusing on :science: to research Biology. The siege of Montevideo is going on well, etc..

The purpose of settling Colorado is to block the Americans from settling equally dumb and annoying cities such as Reno.

We make peace with the Germans. After that we can even OB with them since Spain is our common enemy. Notice their colonies.

The Congress of Amsterdam didn't bring us any good news.

France is willing to make peace.

We settle Porto Alegre, a 4th city in our core.

Montevideo is conquered and burnt down to make room for Porto Alegre.

    Selling coffee to the Russians.

A great engineer is born in Sao Paulo. We'll have many GPs this game as we research Biology early and spam farms everywhere.

Spain is willing to negotiate for peace.

It's safe to settle cities in Canada after the 1870 AD mark(2 turns after the Canadian spawn). Better have you workers ready by then.

    Removing Protestantism from Los Angeles.

Urhhh, I forgot to focus :espionage: on America to see their research progress. Apparently they have discovered railroad and here come their west coast conquerors.

So I load the save of the previous turn and gift the city of Los Angeles away.

We are just in time to build the fourth pasture(there was a new one near Porto Alegre).

The most pressing matter has been dealt with. Now we declare war on Argentina to get the city of Buenos Aires.

Direct :espionage: to America. We'll steal a few techs from them in the future.

America is the biggest military threat in our neighborhood, signing defensive pact with them ensures our safety. We can't afford a war with them while focusing on discovering the required technologies for the Wonders.

It seems the conquerors arrived one turn later than before. Colorado doesn't seem to be in the best location, it'll take ages for its culture to cover the desert hill tiles. There's no guarantee America won't sneak a city in.

England is not doing so well. They capitulated to... Colombia! And collapsed.

Argentina's large stack of units was somewhere else, but after Buenos Aires was taken it disappeared.

We burn down the surrounding indie cities.

We incur expansion stability penalty from razing. But our overall stability is good.

Biology. It's time to chop all those rainforests down and build farms on them.

Immediately we acquire Steel through tech trade.

Each rainforest/jungle provides 40:hammers: and 20:gold: upon chopping, isn't that great? Chop them all down, don't worry about forest preserves.

Because these forests make excellent targets for building forest preserves.

Another congress. It doesn't seem like bribing is very effective way to get what we want, at least when we only have limited budget.

Chinese East Canada is no match for Brazilian West Canada.

    Doing some intercontinental resource trading.

After Biology, there're more cities in Brazil to settle.

Corporations are starting to kick in. However, the unhappiness and unhealthiness they cause is a big problem.

Cancelling the deal and re-signing it, just what do you want, Nicholas II?

We have built a palace in Brasilia. The Canadian Brasilia, that is. Next we'll built a national park there.

Remember Rio de Janeiro has an administrative center in it? It helps a lot with city maintenance.

We have half a dozen madeireiros on the way to help with the development in Canada. The journey would take them quite a while, train madeireiros directly in Canada as well.

Hurry theatres in newly founded starving cities.

For some reason Colombia has collapsed.

We continue to found cities in Canada. It almost feels like I'm playing Canada again.

We have discovered Physics. We need Radio to build the Wembley and Cristo Redentor great wonders.

Meanwhile, the Olympic Park gets built and our first golden age starts.

We take the city of Georgetown.

We have received a 2nd GG from fighting the independents.

Belem is crazy with a 61:food: supply.

    Keep expanding.

The national park is built in Brasilia(Canada). It's cool to have these free specialists.

Trying to start another golden age with the GM and GS. I need to move them out of the city to make it happen properly.

We have acquired Bridgetown through the Congress of Amsterdam.

Buying ivory from the threatened Congolese.

America is not researching toward Radio, so we'd have to do the research ourselves.

During golden age, great people grow like weed...

    We have discovered Electricity.

Let's check out how Turkey is doing.

Looks like we'll be the first to Radio.

    Playing like a true Canadian.

Buenos Aires has finished the ironworks. It's our most productive city.

A great merchant is born in Belem.

    Buying Railroad from Sweden.

With Radio we can now build Wembley in Brasilia and the Cristo Redentor in Buenos Aires. Next we research toward Plastics.

Our second historical goal is achieved as we finish building the 20th forest preserve. Another golden ages starts.

Combustion obsoletes whale. Fortunately happiness is not a problem to us.

    Great people are in abundance.

How ironic, Democracy for slaves and Slavery.

Buenos Aires finishes the Cristo Redentor.

We are finally switching to Capitalism and Scholaticism for better stability, economy and faster GP birth. We have the Cristo Redentor anyway.

Slaves can join the city, we have spare happiness because of the forest preserves.

    We have discovered Assembly Line.

In the Congress of Stockholm, we have to agree to hand over Bridgetown to France. A war with America is definitely not what we want right now.

Organized Religion can boost our wonder production speed.

Wembley is built in Brasilia and Graceland in Buenos Aires.

    We are hungry for oil.

Another great scientist in born in Belem. Note that we're NO.1 on the scoreboard.

Industrialism discovered, next we research Plastics.

Another GS is born in Brasilia.

    Learning Facism from the Dutch.

Settling city deep into the Amazon rainforests.

    Let's start another golden age.

    Brazilians in Polynesia.

Great Statesman is rare sight to see. Administrative centers can only be built by great statesmen.

A semi world war breaks out but we are not in it.

So much unhappiness and unhealthiness from corporations.

    Brazilian New Guinea.

Organized Religion again for the :hammers: bonus.

The Japanese UP is quite powerful in the hands of AI, can you believe Japan is only on 4 cities?

Discovering Plastics has brought us into the Modern Era. Buenos Aires starts building the Three Gorges Dam(do we have enough gorges there?).

Let's start our 5th consecutive golden age.

We have discovered Computer, unfortunately there's no time to build the Internet.

We have 4 core cities so there's huge expansion potential that we haven't utilized.

Buenos Aires finishes the Itaipu Dam and we have won Historical Victory with Brazil.

There was actually some competition on the Three Gorges Dam that I didn't notice.

Brazil has a lot of potential as you can see from this game, I recommend you to try it out some time.

Interesting strategy. I think that first west coast city is actually Seattle though, not Sonoma. Not sure though. How do the Railroad conquerors work? I've encountered them playing as Japan and was little surprised.

Edit: Also, I don't think Canada flips the west coast, do they?

Yeah I'm not sure about the city name there. I remember settling Sonoma in the Spain game and that name got stuck in my head.

The American west coast conquerors attack the owner of cities on tiles south of the city I settled till San Diego. You can find the coordinates in Barbs.py.

Canada flips any city labelled "Canada" as you can see in a Canada game, excluding St. John's. So my city there is safe from both of them.

Interesting gameplay, let's say it's a form of preparation for 2016 Olympics  Wow, brazilian cities can grow really big.

How about Japan or Russia next?

Maybe. Here's a Japan game from a Chinese forum. Its strategy was pretty good, and it was a Paragon game.

If I have time I'll try a Japan game this week(Mid-Autumn Festival is coming, yay), but chances are that I'll play a shorter game instead.
