There are many measures being considered to help the chapecoense:
- several teans announced they will lend players free of charge next year;
- there is talk of cancelling the last round of the Brazilian championship. This is a though call because there are teams still fighting to access the "Libertadores cup", or flee from the "descent zone" that will force them so play the B series instead of the A series next year. Problem is that at least one team, the Porto Alegre International, a very traditional team in Brazil, is at high risk (about 80%) of falling for the first time in its history, and the club president already hinted he will take matters to court should the chance to escape be taken away.
- there in a movement from professional players, the "common sense football club", trying to organize a massive W.O. with all players of all teams. The idea is that if this comes from the players, not the clubs, there can't be administrative punishment, and if it has 100% commitment, nobody can be punished. Some Internacional's players apparently have agreeded even if it means the descent, but there is little hope that there will be this level of commitment, and this leaves lots of questions on how to handle things as the regulations did not predicted a collective W.O.
- Atlético Mineiro, the team chapecoense would have played in the last round, already announced it won't play the last round. Apparently, even if it means getting punished.
- Teams that do plan to play have been announcing they will play with special uniforms in honor of Chapecoense. I know Flamengo will insert their shield in black on the chest, than those shirts will be auctioned, and the profits will be reverted to them. There are talks of friendly matches next year, with the profits being donated as well, but this latter idea is still in embrio. I expect other teams will have similar initiatives.
- There is a proposal to grant Chapecoense immunity from descent to the B series for up to 3 years in order to reorganize. I doubt the confederation will agree, but still, it's on the table.
Anyways, today chapecoense is everybody's second team in Brazil... and Atlético Nacional from Colombia is the third. They did walk the high road there.
