I'm playing Conquests and made an ill advised ROP agreement with China. Apparently, they no longer are canceled after 20 turns. Is there any way to get rid of the stupid thing without going to war with China?

Go to the Diplo screen, look at the bottom, click on Active, and click on the ROP deal.

You can also go to the Preferences screen, and click "renegotiate all deals" (or something like that), to force a renegotiation when each 20-turn period is over.

...which is a bad idea because it makes you renegotiate peace too, so you have to either declare war on an AI's turn or be locked into peace for 20 more turns.

Not really. It only renegotiates peace if you previously had a war in contrast to just meeting up with them, and for some reason peace is renegotiated only once, not every 20 turns as with other deals. If you plan to redeclare war 20-40 turns after the initial peace deal then you have to remember to turn the option off.

I don't think it has to do with war, that's just the overwhelmingly most common stimulant of the actual I reason, I'm pretty sure. I think it has more to do with whether or not there's any perturn deals going on. They don't come up much before wars and because you get the ultimatum after 20, you don't see it afterwards at 40.

That's what I meant. most people forget to turn it off before the renegotiation.
