I'm in the process of applying to Sandhurst and I was wondering if anyone on here has any useful information for me about it/ has been there/ going?

Any ideas on training to get my fitness up to speed?

And in General what is life like in the British military both for officers and rankers (as if i fail the three day selection board I will almost certainly sign up as a squaddie).

Thanks in adavnce.

serve to lead :)

I hope your warhammer skills are up to scratch

EDIT: They have exams in it I heard.

Warhammer 40K exams? Or proficiency with the actual weapon?

If someone orders you to dig a trench what do you do?

Spoiler :
The correct answer is to turn around and pass that order on to a squaddie, anything else such as asking how big means you are not officer material.

I don't know much, but I gather that you'll need a regulation pinstripe suit. The digging the trench one is half urban myth, but is true to an extent; you let the NCOs do their job.

As an Officer myself I can tell you that the key is to be an articulate and confident communicator. If you are nervous about public speaking... get over it and practice. When you get asked a question look the board members in the eye and tell them three things....

1. What you know
2. What you don't know
3. What you think

NEVER tell them what you think they want to hear. You will immediately be labelled as false.

Fitness - you should be working on improving your aerobic fitness. Run 2.5 km every day in about 10 mins but make sure your workout goes for an hour. By the time you head off to training should be able to run 5km in about 18-20 mins. Be able to smash out 50 push ups and 50 unassisted situps.
