Broadway, IMO, is one of the most difficult to get the theming bonus. First of all you have to have 3 GWoMusic all from the same era and same civ. But Music is not tradable AFAIK, so this leaves it up to you to be able to generate 3 GMs in a single era, I've been able to do 2 in the renaissance, 2 in the industrial, and 2 in the modern. Have not been able to get that 3rd at all (my current game just moved to the atomic, so Modern is out and I'm starting over.

It doesn't help that the Musician's Guild is a national wonder, thats most appropriate though. The most I've been able to get is +17 per turn to a GM and that's with +10% Empire bonuses, +25% policy and city bonuses each, and even the +33% WC bonus.

Is the Musician's guild the only building that helps you generate GMs? Has anyone else had trouble getting 3 GMs in the same era?

The Musician's Guild is pretty hard to get the theming bonus for but I've managed it every time I've built it so far. I usually beeline to Radio, meaning there's a LOT of techs left before I advance to the next era, making it only a matter of time, really.

I'm interested what others think though: for the Syndey Opera House, is it better go to for the great works or to use the GMs to bomb?

^This, when you essentially beeline for Radio, your time in the in the Modern Era becomes extended. Make sure the city that the MG is in has Music specialists and you are all good to go. Remember that you can hold on to your GWMAs until you pop over to the next era and expend them then; I've done this many a time to get the Sistine and Globe theming bonuses!

I had 3 renaissance ones that I put into it. I don't remember how I got that many in that era, but I think it was just from having a lot of multipliers. Nothing gives a free great musician that I know of and I didn't get the one from pisa.

Idk why I don't think about hanging on to them until I had 3 waiting to produce in a single era. Definitely could have done it that way.

You know you are Not Forced to Instant use great persona?

Yeah, see the post right above yours. Not sure why i didn't think about keeping them, guess it feels a little like "gaming" the game to me.

Usually by the time I hit the Modern Era, I tend to sit around a bit. Usually generate the 2 needed. Otherwise, finish Aesthetics, build up faith, and purchase some for quick use.

I do the same thing, I try to avoid getting my MG so that they're not generating too fast since I try to rely on them more for Tour-bombs.

Broadway gives you a Free Musician, Pisa gives a free Great Person, as does finishing Liberty, Maya's Long Count, and Patronage finisher gifts.

Also, you can trade Great Music the same way you trade other Great Works. Likely, the AI has been Tourbombing instead of creating great works...which always annoys me. Especially when they stop generating Great Writings.

Guys, you need to generate *two* great musicians, not three. You get one for free with Broadway. The easiest of wonders to theme. Just generate two at any time and pop them when you build it.

Since you get a free one just for building Broadway, what I tend to to is save up two Great Musicians until I've completed it, then use them all.

I don't think you get a theming bonus for the any of the Guilds. Unless I'm reading this incorrectly.

Very entertaining to read here that the whole "beeline to Radio" strategy is so popular. As soon as the World Congress starts, my beelining begins - mainly so that my city-state allies have WC votes, making WC domination that much easier. I usually save Oxford University for the purpose of discovering Radio once Electricity is done.

Ever since falling into this pattern of gameplay, it seems like getting different "Same Era" theming bonuses is much easier in all three forms of artistic media, as a disproportionate portion of the game is spent backfilling the tech tree from that point onward..

I find that my games on higher levels have become a lot more easier to win and have become a lot more monotonous when going for a Culture or Diplo victory.

It tends to be for me -> Beeline to Mathematics for the Hanging Gardens -> Beeline to Theology for Borobodur/Grand Temple/Hagia Sophia -> Beeline to Printing Press for Globe/Pisa/World Congress -> Beeline to Radio for Eiffel/Broadway -> Beeline to Spare Parts for Statue of Liberty -> Beeline to Telecommunications for CN/Visitors Centre/Sydney Opera House along the way -> Pop Oxford University to get Globalization/Internet -> Pop GS's as fast as you can to get the other Post Telecommunications tech.

After that it's either just either waiting, buying out city states, or warring. Nobody seems to be even close to space victory even at this point, so you can easily catch up to tech via spies if going for cultural or Scholars in Residence and Production-> Research in all your cities.

-> Pop Oxford University to get Globalization/Internet -> Pop GS's as fast as you can to get the other Post Telecommunications tech.

That's a terrible idea. Oxford has 2 slots for writing, with a +2 theming bonus that is really easy to get (different civs, different eras).
