BTS bugs

There's some sort of bug with excessive load times between turns. The turn before the wait time in between the turn was something like 20 seconds, this turn it's been as high as 10 minutes until I've force quitted it. I've tried restarting from various autosaves, and always the same thing. At 1630 AD whichever save, the game has this crazy load time.

Bug: When one civ meets another for the first time using a Privateer, the owners name appears in the leaders contact list (bottom right of screen) and he/she makes contact with you, all of which gives away their identity.

That isn't such an issue with the AI, but I guess from an MP point of view, having the name appear right when contact is made breaks their identity. Maybe the Privateer shouldn't trigger initial contact at all or something.

World War II: European Theater, playing as Germans Open Ended game. I ran up the tech tree to be the first to the atomic bomb, rushed the manhattan project with a great engineer I'd been saving, and had tons of cities with chain reactors ready and raring to go. Built one atomic bomb, all my orders in the other cities were canceled and I lost the option to build it in any city. Still meet all the requirements, it just seems like there is a bug in the code capping the atomic bomb production at one.

Not a bug.. the Apostolitic Palace is locked the the religion it was constructed under.. (the state religion the civ who constructed it had at the time of completion)
it will never switch

He should be eligible for voting though.

Also, reported in the other Forum
Espionage, unhappiness and unhealthiness missions are bugged at non normal game speed
Marathon gave 24 unhappiness for 24 turns (instead of 8 unhappiness for 24 turns)

Is anyone else having a problem with "pinging" in multiplayer? The sound doesn't play for me or my teammate.

You can call that a bug...but it's actually a feature, although I don't like it either, as do few MPers. I hope we manage to get it changed back.

Another bug: I can't get a pic of it, but for some reason I wasn't able to move a scout though a city. It just gave the no go red circle. There was no unit graphics in the city too (but there were units). After a few turns, it fixed itself. Strange.

I don't have the game yet (today hopefully), but I do recall reading that there is a limit to the number of units you can have in a city. 8 I believe. Are you sure you weren't over this limit?

This 'feature' is one of the first things I'm modding right out of existance.

The limit is on air units only IIRC.

Moderator Action: If you have new bugs, please make new threads for them - don't continue to grow this one. It makes organisation much easier to have separate threads for separate topics.
Prehaps a sub forum? Sorry, if there's already a bug forum for BtS, but I couldn't find one. So I gave this thread a more generic title for other peoples bugs.

edit: d'oh!

 I just realised shortly after posting (hence the above edit)

Should I start again with a new thread (and title), following the instructions or just edit the OP in this thread (and leave the generic title) or edit the OP in this thread and ask you to change the title.

...maybe a new thread would be easier?

There was a known bug (since after game went gold) that caused this..

It is however fixed in the 3.02 patch I believe.. so try to patch the game and see if the problem is still there

Maybe someone will be kind enough to mod back in. The Ping.wav is still there in the Civ4 directory and the animation still appears. The only other thing missing with it is the circular tab that you could click on and be taken to the ping location.

I guess Firaxis saw this function abused in Gamespy-type multiplayer games and decided to kill it for everyone. :(

Hey look in the second ss, Charlemagne has Vienna! [party] My ancestors came from there...:mischief:

I am having a problem with units that have reached level 4 - 10/17; the issue being that after combat they do not gain any experience points. This is my second game in a row that this problem has happened. I have not played Civ IV for over a year and did not buy Warlords so I'm don't know if this is a change in the basic game or not. I'd like to know whether anyone else is having this problem.

I have attached my latest save which right after my cuirassier was victorious; the unit had achieved level 4 on the previous turn. He is located just to the southwest of Zehu near a barbarian city. I'd also like to know if anyone tries this game and has the unit gain points.

Without opening the save (can't at the moment), the "near a barbarian city" probably answers it: You can only reach a maximum of 10XPs from fighting barbs (5XP cap from animals).

Thanks ainwood; its been so long since I played the game I had forgotten that piece of information. Once you memtioned it, especially the animal part, it came back to me. I appreciate the response.
