I had BTS with 3.17 running great. I installed the patch to 3.19 and started having MAF problems. Then the game started crashing while uploading. I uninstalled everthing. I went through the registry keys and deleted every Civ4, warloard, beyond, BTS, firaxis entry I could find. I then re-installed Civ 4 with latest patch - no problems. installed warlord with latest patch and encountered a non critical error (I can still play) that I never eno****ed below. "You have installed a non supported sound capture device, sound capture device disabled." I uninstalled and re-installed with patch 2.08 and no problems. Installed BTS. BTS insalled the latest warlord patch. Same error.

But the ciritcal ierror is that BTS will not open. It crashes after xml uncached and python uncached successfully load just before it would normally finish. It crashes with no patch. It crashes with 3.19 or 3.17 loaded. Thinking my CD may be bad, I installed Civ4, warloard, BTS on my laptop. It works fine, but I really don't want to play on my laptop Thinking I have corrupted files, I copied to a flash drive and moved over to my desktop. It still crashes.

I have no BTS files to send because I do not see any BTS file that was created (no ini, no save, nothing I can see). Aside from spending another couple hours uninstalling everything and going through the registry cleaing up everything again - what can I do to get it to work on my desktop computer.

Right now I wish 3.19 had never been released because it has caused me nothing but problems.

Any ideas???????? HELP

I have windows XP home edition with service pack 3

Windows event viewer shows an application error - category NONE, event 1000, user N/A

Registry is the key. It's working now. I had installed History of Man and since it was installed with a .exe it made a registry entry. I unistalled the BTS that was crashing. Deleted the History of Man registry entry, re-booted and re-installed BTS and it worked.

Any ideas on how to decrease or fix the increased number of MAF I have experienced with 3.19. I was running 3.17 and had not experienced a MAF in a long, long time. But once I loaded 3.19, MAF's became frequent. Hopefully cleaning up the registry and the complete re-install will help.

Unmodded game. and no I haven't set the flag for 3g. I have windows XP home edition SP 3, and from reading the post, this does not work for Home Editon only Vista or XP professional.

Does it work with Home Edition?

Thanks for all the help! Setting it to 3G appeared to work - at least my PC didn't crash. I will see if my next BTS game doesn't MAF on turn 150 again.
