BTS install problem

I have tried over and over to install this game i have got all the newest patches and it still won't install i keep on getting this error

civ4 is ok when i play it by itself it is really fun but when i try to install beyond the sword i get this error midway through i don't know what to do.

click utilities
click system utilities
choose disk cleanup tool

that should give you the option to do it easily

I Have cleaned my temp files on my comp but i am still getting the error. Anymore suggestions?

did you try cleaning the disc? did you try copying all disc contents to your hard drive and run the installer from there?

i have cleaned the dic and it didn't work but i haven't tried copying the files. How would i copy these files to the hardrive and then start from there????? Also I want to thank you for the time you ar putting in to help me!

create a new folder on your desktop - right click on the desktop choose new then choose folder/directory
then open the disc in windows explorer (click on my computer then on the discdrive) and mark all files on the disc (best is to use ctrl-a) then right click and choose copy or use ctrl-c.
go back to the new folder you created and open that - right click and choose paste or use ctrl-v
then look for setup.exe in the new folder and double click on that...

Don't worry - this kind of forum glitch happens

unfortunately this CRC error you get means that the disc cannot be read because it is damaged and/or dirty (there is an off chance that it is due to the disc drive - but that should happen with other discs as well then) - so the only remedy would be to replace the disc if it cannot be salvaged by gently cleaning it. Are there any scratches on it?

i have cleaned my disc and there are 2 very little scratches on the disc i should of told you this before but i have installed this game b4 on my comp but then i had my hardrive repaired and then these problems happened. So the only way to play is to get a new disc????

unfortunately I fear that this is the cause - sometimes such minor scratches only cause problems with an installer and not with data transfer - in your case neither works so I do not know of a way to work around this

This may also be a hard drive error. Try running checkdisk.

go to My Computer and right click your c: drive and select properties, then clock the Tools tab and click the Check Now button to run the test. This could take a lot of time depending how full the drive is. maybe an hour or more.

Any other thoughts than the above. I have a brand new computer and disks and I still get the before mentioned error in this thread.
