BTS MP and Gamespy MP differences?

Is there any difference between playing multiplayer through BTW or Gamespy? Can both of them play the same game or are they separated? Do most people use the Gamespy program to play online?

If you are referring to Gamespy Arcade, then no we don't use it as it doesn't support any of the Civ4 games. Gamespy is now trying to push an instant messenger called "Comrade" now as well as the next evolution in MP gaming, but it is nothing more than another IM, and YIM or MSN is just at good, as Civ doesn't use a server, the server integration it offers is not applicable to Civ.

So yes we do all our gaming in the GS powered lobby, joining games has to be done via the games MP interface but you can excess the lobby externally just for chat by using a fan created program called C4F, that can be found here. www.civ4fans.com, the version that supports the BTS lobby is here http://www.civ4fans.com/c4f2007beta.exe
