building scenarios in MGE - where do I start??

[Newbie Dave]

As my screen name implies, this is a very basic question. I want to design a scenario for Civ2 Multiplayer Gold Edition. Where do I start? How do I create/edit the *.scn file? I've looked at many civ2 sites and can't find this answered so I must be missing something obvious. Can someone point me in the right direction?

You start by using the editor pull down menu and toggle scenario mode on. Then you can do what ever you want using the inbuilt editors and cheat menu.

Once you have gotten used to all this, you can manually edit all the files the editors create for you like rules.txt. Other text files in the master civ2 directory can be copied to the folder that is created with your scenario.

When you can do all this, read all the creation tips and articles here at civfan in the downloads section here and also at the Scenario League at apolyton.

This must be the 50th time I am typing this. Alcib, can we have a sticky thread that says this and gives the address of the tips section.

I attached "Radiospace’s CIV 2 Scenario Design FAQ" here, one of the oldest, but still one of the best guides for Civ2 scenario making. Reading it should answer a lot of basic questions...

Click the user cp button at the top, then via edit your profile you can edit your signature. Just put the appropriate smilie code in your signature.

Kob, Thunderfall doesn't really care for sticky threads, but I would like to get all the tips together, maybe we can put that on the home page, a link to all the hints.

Nah..I was just thinking of something like a FAQ for this forum. Since TF doesn't care for stick threads, I guess there's no harm to answer the questions as they come. The downloads section is already on the main page so an additional link wouldn't help.

i just made it to 500 posts this week, and i can honestly say that at least a third of those came from discussing 9/11 in the off topic forum. of course, i do split my time here and at apolyton so i''ve probably got a lot lot more combined
