Biology bulb requires avoiding Compass, because Optics, Astro and then Physics have higher priority. I don't know about BUG (haven't used it for years) but BUFFY shows what techs can be bulbed after last tech in the queue is researched. One can add techs to the queue with shift to explore bulbing possibilities. It is sometimes more convenient than working with a list of bulbing priorities.
