WTF ????
This is got to be the nuttiest thing Bush has said. I cannt make head or tails of this comment.
(With Karl gone gawd save us all)

I thought an interesting comment was made — somebody said to me, I heard somebody say, “Now, where’s Mandela?” Well, Mandela’s dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas.

Nelson Mandela was a strong opponent of the war in Iraq. Prior to the war, he condemned Bush as “a president who can’t think properly and wants to plunge the world into holocaust.” “Why does the United States behave so arrogantly?” he asked, adding, “They just want the oil. We must expose this as much as possible.”

Today I saw a clip on Kudlow & Company.

Bush said something along the lines of the following: "Supply-side economics works, I think I got a B in economics back at Harvard. I got an A in tax cuts."

Sweet Jesus we are led by an idiot.

Blame the South more than the Midwest. They contributed nothing. The Midwest however offers Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan.

QUESTION: Do you think there’s a risk of a recession? How do you rate that?

BUSH: You know, you need to talk to economists. I think I got a B in Econ 101. I got an A, however, in keeping taxes low and being fiscally responsible with the people’s money.

Fiscally responsible ? i hate to see what fiscally irresponsible would be like

President Bush as an undergraduate at Yale did not in fact receive a grade of B in his economics course. Bush received a grade that would correspond with a C-.

From the context of the statement, President Bush is stating that he was asked where the individuals in Iraq are who could do for Iraq what Nelson Mandela did for South Africa. To which he replied, the individuals who might fill that role were killed by Hussein's regime. I don't know whether the exchange actually occurred, or if he is just using it as an illustration.

Not really that hard to understand... be sure and ask next time you can't figure out context!

As far as the other statements... I'll need a citation more reasonable than thinkprogress for reference.

Well, say what you want about Bush, but the quote makes sense if you think about it in context. The point is that Iraq does not have a charismatic, unifying leader to bring the country together because Saddam Hussein executed everyone with those qualities.

Normally people tell me "BUT LIGHTY HE GOT INTO YALE IN THE FIRST PLACE LOL!"

Money can move things in this world.

Well, I meant the west, my mistake. Excluding the obvious blue states.

You know, until 2000, the South was an obviously blue region. Then they decided to flip for God knows what reason and turn Republican. Those scalawags.

"Baby, we gotta go to the library".

Only coherent thing you've said yet sweetie.

EDIT - At Phleg. Dam a lot of people posted while I was watching the clip.

Son, the Republicans and Democrats did their little conservative-liberal dance about fifty years ago, not seven.

Daughter, I just go by what I've been told, and my US History teacher said that since about the 1850s, the Southern states have absolutely refused to vote Republican, if you even mention Sherman in Georgia you will get jumped, and you seriously don't call a Southerner a scalawag, even in a joking manner. You blue-bellied scalawag.
