Most people in the news are saying Bush is unpopular outside the US. As many members of the great civfanatics community aren't US citizens, I think it would be interesting to know what they (you) are thinking about it. :)

As I don't want our american fellows to feel rejected (there's no reason), they are also free to give their opinion about it. :)

Well... "to like" and "to dislike" may be too emotional feelings. Maybe it was more accurate to propose "to approve" and "to disapprove"... or maybe "to have a good opinion about". Well anyway, too late :p

US citizen, dislike Bush, like the US.

And to some people, do not try to pull that crap by telling me that I really dislike the US because I don't like the president. I hear that too much on WABC talk radio as it is.

That could also be a purpose for this poll. :)

Well, I'm not american, I like the US in general, especially New York City... I love that city !! I've been there only for holidays and I know the feeling may be totally different once we live there... however that city looks great to me. It's big, it's dense, it's alive, it's a little world on itself, things happen everyday there, people are rude... Actually, it's a bit like Paris but a lot wider (and taller) ! I still hope I'll live there once. :)

Thumbs down to both. United States - a wonderful idea, a pretty shoddy reality. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and all that. But you can see how well the same ideas worked in small states that didn't get involved in world affairs [as the Founding Fathers wanted!]. It was a great dream, it just went downhill. I don't think you can say today "Ooh, we're AMERICA, we deserve special consideration merely because of our name recognition!" We do things about as well as any country in our position in the past. The same things that plagued all great nations came home to us - partisanship, corruption, cabalism, finally apathy and degeneration. A third of our eligible citizens vote - in a hotly contested election. Yes - we did better than the alternative. Is that saying much?

I don't "dislike" the USA. Do I take it at face value? Hell no.

Bush gets a thumbdown of course. Face it, if you LIKE George Dubya, you should be committed to an asylum. My condolences. :mischief:

Marla: I love New York too! It's exactly like Paris except the cabbies know how to drive :D What more could you want?

Yes, you're right Ponthius Pilate. My poll sucks actually... I've been too general and the word "like" and "dislike" aren't the best to express what I meant. It should be more "good overall opinion" and "bad overall opinion". However, I wanted proposals to be short. Well anyway.

One factor in my dislike of Bush is proportional to my like for Americans.:)

I voted #2 and #3, but awkwardly. "Bush" to me seems only the product, pawn, figurehead and ultimate fall-guy of a rotten system; I'd be dumb to fix on him. Yet we agree to shuffle criticism of US government into his little disposable box, so I ticked the box. "USA generally" includes, in my mind, USA government, but I ticked "like". With one glaring exception, that's true.

US citizen, I dislike Bush, and I like the US. I should rephrase that - I like the ideals the US is founded on and says it follows, I dislike alot of the actions.

Well, I dislike Bush, but I'm not sure about the US in general..
I could say I dislike the US, but that would be mainly because of Bush being president now (don't like his way of dealing with things).. Which would be a little unfair, since I remember vaguely to have liked the US back when Clinton was president..
Therefore I won't vote for the like/dislike the US, since my opinion is somewhat biased..

As a country, the US is OK. I like living here and enjoying the privleges I do. I dislike the way Bush is running the country and him as a person. It's kind of like the wrong person being in control of a good thing.

I am a US citizen. I love this country but I despise Bush. I see no connection between love of country and how one feels about it's current leader. Republicans and Democrats, Whigs and Federalists, they all come and go but the nation remains and transcends all of those petty factions.

Like the United States (what I've seen of it), and the majority of the people. Don't like George Bush, nor his foreign policy.

Obviously RM is referring to those who can't differentiate between a country and the policies of the people who govern said country.

Although I dislike neither, I would love to know why someone is an idiot if they don't like a country.

I dislike Bush. I wonder if Bush would choke on a doughnut

Well it spoils the win-win paradox of everyone liking some countries, variously, and no dislikes to balance it.

Bush has entered my realm of indifference. I won't place all the blame of the war on him seeing as he got congress aproval, from both parties, it just seems the democrats are now trying to slide the blame all on Bush.

I like the US

Don't like Bush and can't comment on a country. Towards a country per se, apart from politics (which would of course include Bush), culture etc. I am always neutral and there's no such option in the poll.

bush is a tolerable socialist, usa is good.

who cares if usa isnt loved by commies, dictators, religious fanatics? would i expect them to love the usa?
