C2C - Building Review Thread

If they require power lines, than their major benefit is lost: they are very early power plants.
But the resources should be in vicinity, if they aren't already.

They are not early power plants as they are available at Electricity, just like Coal Plants. And there is no need for the resource in the vicinity (as I said), all three dynamos can be built in every city, current SVN.

And I still can´t see how you would want to benefit from Elecricity without Power Lines, being it a "Punk" effect or not...

But the steampunk powerhouses would not generate electricity. They would use belts or some such to turn axels that run the machinery. That was how early water and steam engines were used to run factories. The wonder would just have found a much more efficient way of transferring this power over longer distances perhaps using complex gearing in addition to the belts. Or perhaps they miniaturised the power generator.

Talking about energy, around 2030 the first 4th generation nuclear power plant become available. I'd just recommend to give the normal nuclear powerplant a bonus by then, but these can't meltdown which would be a major improvement.

Thanks for explaining this, absolutely makes sense (from a Steampunk perspective). I would expect that these engines would need a crazy amount of fuel so they really would need the Resource in the vicinity (IMO).

Concerning the Nuclear Power Plants: We already have the Clean and the Higjh Tech Reactor without risk of meltdown IIRC.

So they say... I will NEVER put it past the power of nature to destroy all the best laid plans to protect ourselves from the potential devastation of a harnessed nuclear reaction. I consider them the absolutely worst idea we as a people have ever had - extremely arrogant of us to think we can actually make it fool proof safe. We thought as much with the Titanic did we not?

There are actually two scientists that have had worse. One is accredited with having a number of wonderful solutions to existing problems which later, 30+ years later, turned out to have a high cost in human life. I believe lead in petrol was one of his.

The other saved many lives, including mine at age 4. He is now considered the main cause of human overpopulation.

I've always thought the Nuclear Power plant meltdown event was stupid. There isn't a gas line explosion event, a coal mine explosion event, a dam failure event, or any number of other things that could damage/destroy a city. Right now the worst event we have is the tsunami and all that does is destroy a couple easily replaceable buildings. Really disastrous tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc. will wipe a city off the face of a map, but we don't have events that do that because they wouldn't enhance the gameplay, just encourage save-scumming. I think it makes much more sense to be able to build an ordinance building or National Wonder (something like the NRC) that increases maintenance costs of nuclear plants but eliminates the risk of meltdown.

Ok DH, here are my buildings that require (or can also be build) by a unit. I have not tested them all, but at least the 3 national beliefs and the national standard of measurement don't work.

I hope it will be simple fix.... Anyway, could you tell me were I did a mistake so I can prevent that from happening again and maybe fix it myself in my files?

Thanks for looking!

No it doesn't. They are WoCed in their Custom_Religion folders.

No maintenanc on Castle is a little strange... Walls have mainenance, but not a big castle?
____

All building requiring Mammoth + another ressource in citu vicinity are obsolete pretty fast. Just like Mammoth, I think they dont have to be obsolete

______

Civis building have to be not obsolete (or replace by another one : Warrior Hut ---> Warrior Skycraper). These building are link yo a civic, if civ keep these civics, the building have to be functionnal.
