Not everyone has opted to make this transition. Even now, there are segments of society which are adamant in maintaining a natural, minimally upgraded human body. -Religion?

Many of the early settlers on Mars actually wished for it to remain in its raw, primeval state. Some of them had an almost spiritual connection to the planet. Like certain environments on Earth, they believed it held an intrinsic worth and unique value that should never be replaced. To better it with manmade artificial processes would somehow make it less natural, less real.

Pro-GMO, pro-cloning, pro-UFO, modern, but maybe with some wonder in future (linked to cloning) : raelism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raëlism

Proselytist Vegan can be see as a religion too : like mormin,t hey remove acess to some ressource (all meat) and give bonus to other (all vegetables)

Both are not totally futurist, but really post-modern and can have some "intersting" tool in future.

Neo-druidism and neo-shamnism can be used too, as part of shamnism and druidism or as nex religions (again, with cloning, Animal rights, ...)

I like the ideas, but won't those who resist transcendence simply continue to hold whichever religions they currently practice? For example, won't Christians continue to be Christians? I can even see a situation in which the doctrines of various churches are used to justify remaining biological.

On the other hand, fervently embracing the singularity (or whatever you want to call it) has potential room for theological development. Shoot, the internet is basically a god as it is now (omnipresent in technological society, we actively spread its influence, it knows everything, it lies to us on occasion, etc.). The second we are able to store consciousness on that bad boy, BOOM! Digital Theism. The purpose of existence is to serve the Technocracy.

I am a great fan from Warhammer 40K. It is also can be that an Godemperor will live and a strong fundamental religion start and a dark time like in middle age can come. No more discovery and science but only war:)
