C2C: Maps & Scenarios

Well, I'll be the first to admit that sounds awesome.
Although may I get a temperature range of what each tile represent so I have a good idea what I'm going to do with map data and GEM?

Currently it is just based on latitude, because I did not know that coast/ocean plots had a temperature.

Ah, because certain areas in the ocean are warmer and colder due to the streams that run through them. Which effects the temperatures of the areas.

However, if it is based on Latitudes, just given the rough estimation of where they stop and start (when you were creating them) will be fine.
If not, I'll assume they work on the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn as well as the Arctic and Antarctic circle.

If the multiple maps becomes reality, should the game start in the old world and unlock the New world for play when certain techs have been reached?.

If the multiple maps does happen, would it be possible to have the 'Old World' and 'New World' run in parallel?
So that the civilizations in North, Central and South America are still 'running'? So the 'New World' is running while you are off getting started in the Old World?
Or Visa Versa?

If so, you could just create 2 separate maps, to enlarge the old and new worlds while making the game playable.
Question is, how resource intensive is that?

instead of custom game, you choose - custom scenario.

btw, didn't realise the map was gigantic
think ill stick to the huge one since there are only so many crashes I can tolerate without my knuckles turning white. :mischief:

Okay, I have never tried that option before. I may try this once I get all of my Wonder ideas realized.

That would be doable, but frankly I don't really see any advantage over one large map. Surely you would want to be able to cross coean between them in normal fashion later on, which would never be possible with two maps (you'd have to arrange some sort of unit-transfer mechanic)

For this cut I just used the circles. ;) If we have currents simulated in the oceans that would be important for sailing and ecology. After all the "Vikings" were able to get to Iceland and back so easily because of the current that goes east and the wind that goes west being so near each other.

I've been slowly working on mod'ing a Huge Europe map I've had for awhile for C2C. I say slowly because I'm having to learn how to mod from scratch (and the Civ4 learning curve is rather steep) and, as was earlier pointed out, there are quite a few more terrains/terrain bonuses/resources in C2C then in the vast majority of other Civ4 incarnations. However, its been my staple of play for awhile, as Europe has been a source of strife and warfare since mankind has been socializing, and it translates well to C2C. I'm including it here for anyone else that wants to use it or assist in mod'ing/adding to it. I am not the original designer of the map, I just started to alter it for the purposes of C2C, I believe this started life as UnCopain's Huge European map.

It is really good idea, I miss Huge European map. But it is too raw now, I saw no c2c resourse for example. But thank you for bringing this map in discussion! Hope it will be worked

Excellent, I'll get right on it.

What file(Py?) sets the distribution of resources on a pre made map which has the random resource line?.

What i was after was to have normal and extra amounts of resources randomly placed, i can see how its done in the py files, but dont see what file is used for a worldbuilder save.

Okay, sitting down, new placeable resources from what I can tell are:
-Barley
-Figs
-Fossils
-Mango (I typed Manga originally. -__- )
-Resin

By virtue of the GEM, a lot of the ocean is tropical.
Tropical Water (Finished)
Ocean (Already done, basically what doesn't convert to Tropical or Arctic ocean.)
(Arctic and Antarctic) Ocean (Done, GEM does not extend far enough south for the Antarctic Circle.)
Wild Coral Fixin' (Should be easier to traverse around Austrailia, while still keeping a majority of the reefs intact. Toned sown in some areas, added more in others.)
New Resources
Resource Buildings (Have to go through the files)

Manga goes near Japan right?......arf...

This user friendly map script works just fine in C2C, and if you like Pangea with Mtn ranges and long rivers etc, is well worth looking at. My Fav random maps are achieved with this, and by trial and error have found that adding in the new terrain is not the time hog i originaly thought it would be.

Number of resources in game can be increased by adding a number value that acts a multiplier to the base value to achive resource rich maps.

Horse nomads ( as civs) can be fixed to have plots give them horse and grasslands when placed.

I haven't done the research yet, but initial searching seems to say that the Mango is native to the Indian sub continent.
I'll look it up more as I go.
Question is how modern the resource spread is, but I tend to limit myself to Pre Columbian to make my life easier.

Aside from Resin and fossils I have the new resources placed now as well, in concurrence with the last SVN update.

Are you uploading the updated GEM to the SVN directly or passing to SO to upload?

I was thinking about loading it here, what I meant is from the last SVN update and me scouring through the resource list, I've updated the map with the new ones I found.
