C2C: Maps & Scenarios

I'm pretty clueless with this, I don't mind data mining or learning though so would you show me an example of the team reveal code in use? (Game probably considers it a used map, thank you in advance for your help and wisdom)

Generally though, I'm still stuck with the problem and I've tried giving each "ContactWithTeam=[number]" as [number] = -1 or their respective number, if they were "TeamID=10" then [number] would also be 10.

I've uploaded the completed maps, although the preset scenarios have the 'everyone knows everybody" problem, which I plan to fix don't you worry. :D

The one with no preset civs should be, however, good and ready to go. Please comment on the terrain and resource placement, suggestions, hints and tips, always welcomed.

Giant Earth Map - No preset
- Ready to go, play with the options as you will. I tend to enjoy the settings present, although I tend to turn on/off 'Divine Prophets' depending on the game I want.

Giant Earth Map - 5 Starting Civs [Contact problem]
China (Xian start) - Qin Shi Huang
Egypt - Ramesses II
India - Asoka
Maya - Pacal II
Sumeria (Lagash start) - Gilgamesh

Giant Earth map - Pre Columbian pre 1500's preset Civs [Contact problem]
- Europe, the Middle East and North America look interesting for aspiring conquerors, Indochina to a lesser extent. I've tested 20 out of the 38 civs on startup to see if everything is good and proper, so far so good, posting tonight, if I notice a problem I'll post the fix tomorrow.

Arabia - Saladin (Closer to the Aden region than the historical Mecca start)
Assyria - Ashurbanipal (Northernmost part of Mesopotamia)
Austrailian - Curtin (Not in the modern sense, but in the tribal sense so Oceania has a civ)
Aztec - Montezuma (North Mexican Plateau, maybe too north, but I wanted him to do a bit better.)
Babylonia - Hammurabi (Middle Part of Mesopotamia, access to cow for culture reason)
Byzantine - Justinian (Constantinople)
Carthage - Hannibal
Celtic - Boudica (Southern France or "Hello Augustus")
Chinese - Qin Shi Huang (Xian start)
Egypt - Ramesses II
English - Elizabeth
Ethiopia - Zara Yaqob
French - Louis XIV
German - Frederick
Greek - Alexander (Athens)
Hittite - Suppiluliuma (Eastern Anatolia)
Holy Roman Empire - Charlemagne (Rhineland, around Liege, Charlemagne's birthplace)
Incan - Huayna Capac
India - Asoka
Iroquois - Deganwida (East of Lake Erie)
Japan - Tokugawa (Kyoto)
Khmer - Suryavarman II (Cambodia/Southern Vietnam)
Lower Sioux - Little Crow (West of Lake Michigan... Minnesota region, I think)
Malinese - Mansa Musa
Maya - Pacal II
Mongolia - Genghis Khan
Native Americans - Sitting Bull (Further West and a bit north of the Lower Sioux)
Ottoman Empire - Sulieman (Turks starting in the under the Urals - across the desert)
Persian - Cyrus
Portugal - Joao II
Roman - Augustus Caesar
Russian - Catherine (Moscow, was thinking the more historical Kievan Rus)
Siamese - Ramkhamhaeng (Bangkok area)
Spanish - Isabella (Madrid, was considering Barcelona/Aragon region)
Sumeria - Gilgamesh (Lower Mesopotamia, Lagash start)
Vikings - Ragnar (started them in Stockholm, for the best start, can change)
Zulu - Shaka (Lake Victoria region, hoping they historically expand southwards in repsonse to Ethiopia being to their north in a solid defensible area)

Found a problem, H.R.E Extras east of the Ural mountains.
French Extras east and slightly north of Russia's start, before te Ural Mountains.
Byzantine Extras, South Africa, Eastern Part.
All tested, loaded in the 'Load a Scenario" and other than some extras, everything seems to work well.

I'm hoping to fix the problems in one go with the contact problem.

When i try to start the Pre Columbian Map as Chinese it will be come the Victoryscreen

When i try to start the Pre Columbian Map as Chinese it will be come the Victoryscreen

Odd, I just tested them with no problems, or at least I have marked down no problems when loading them up.
I'll look at them tomorrow, but I loaded it up again with no problems.

Anyone else having this problem?

(Loaded the Chinese on the 5 preset as well)

Strange, i try start Mayas and Romans too but also victory screen at first.

Someone will figure out what I did wrong. I'm not having these issues, so I don't know where to look.

Does the "No preset" map work?

Done for the evening, will check back tomorrow between classes.
Everything seems to load fine on my end, have the 'contact' problem with the preset maps... but the civs load well enough.
Although the Byzantines, France and the Holy Roman Empire have some extras that need trimming and they WILL BE TRIMMED! >:3

5 Preset (aside from the 'Cheers' phenomenon) civs and the free for all no preset map.

*Cheers phenomenom - Everybody knows your name.

The "No preset" map works fine. It is only a problem with the Pre Columbian map. I try also with custom and normal scenario but same problem.

So just with the Pre Columbian.
I'm using an SVN that is 2 days old, that might be my problem, I hope to update it tomorrow as well.
I might have to redo the Pre Columbian, although I don't envy it. Everything loads for me, so I don't know where the problem lies.

Well, let's see what tomorrow brings.
(I do plan to complete the map and make it shiny. I also want to do other scenarios. Regardless on how much work that will be. XD)

But anyway, thanks for make good maps for C2C.

I wish you much power and time to keep your joy on it:-)

@Acularius

Thank you for doing this. However I was unable to load them. The game loads and loads the scenario all the way until the bar is done, then the whole screen turns black and all you can here is background environment noise but nothing. I suspect it is my computer. However it would be nice to see what the scenario looks like. Could you post some screenshots or something?

Okay, early morning for me, but I'll start hacking away at the teamreveal in the 5 civ preset. Since I didn't see an problem with the load ups of their civs.

I'll proceed to fix up the Pre Columbian civ map and post a screen shot by after choosing Shaka (being last on the list allows everyone else to found their first cities.)

I'll post later today with the maps, all nice and fixed in the end.

@Hydro
The 'no preset' base map worked though, right?

I've noted a similar "Cheers Syndrome" with Start as Minors turned on. I used the old GEM, but either it or the option could have changed since then, so I'm not sure if it's a pressing issue.

Maybe I should turn the option off, and remove the minor civ from the data, since after removing teamreveal from the plots the 'Cheers syndrome still occurs. I'll take a look at this.
(5 civ preset only at the moment, I haven't posted an update)

@Hydro
Does GEM on ROM (or RAND) work?

Update, thanks to Praetyre (You helped solve it)
Glorious moment!
The solution is that when I was making the map, I had minor civs turned on, which in turn gave each player 'minorcivstatus=1' as default, therefore, on scenario loadup they should know where each other is.
The solution was as simple as changing the 1 to a 0, for each player and the "Cheers" phenomenom stopped. :D

I will still go through the other map files and remove teamreveal, but my biggest annoyance has been wiped.
Now to figure out the 'auto death to victory screen'.
Teamreveal removal first. The Auto death to victory screen.
Actually, breakfast... XD

@Hydro
Does GEM on ROM (or RAND) work?

RoM use to work a long time ago but at some point the mod got too big and I had to resort to smaller maps. whatever size "C2C Earth - 28 Civs" is I am able to load fine and even play until say mid Classical. But I usually play on standard size maps since I can last until around modern era. it may be more now since each C2C version seems to push it back more (was industrial era for RoM on standard map).

In short I wish there was a way for me to experience larger maps without having to buy new computer hardware or play vanilla civ4. I find it ironic that I cannot fully experience the mod I work on.

OK i looked at these 3 maps, only one does NOT work when loading (didn't do a start yet though) it was Giant Earth Map - No preset, this is what it gave for a python error:

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "CvCultureLinkInterface", line 273, in assignCulturallyLinkedStarts

File "CvCultureLinkInterface", line 288, in __init__

File "CvCultureLinkInterface", line 306, in __initRWCoordinatesList

KeyError: 0
ERR: Python function assignCulturallyLinkedStarts failed, module CvCultureLinkInterface

(This means that somewhere in the civilizationinfo.xml, one of the civs are NOT linked to C2C ie: (I am not saying these are the culprits, because as you can see they are listed, its some other civ someplace) this is just an example:

Spoiler :
Code:
if (gc.getInfoTypeForStringWithHiddenAssert("CIVILIZATION_NATIVE_AMERICA") > 0):
		coords.append(GeographicalCoordinate("CIVILIZATION_NATIVE_AMERICA", 39.883, 5.025))
	if (gc.getInfoTypeForStringWithHiddenAssert("CIVILIZATION_SIOUX") > 0):		coords.append(GeographicalCoordinate("CIVILIZATION_SIOUX", 39.883, 5.024))
	if (gc.getInfoTypeForStringWithHiddenAssert("CIVILIZATION_LOWER_SIOUX") > 0):		coords.append(GeographicalCoordinate("CIVILIZATION_LOWER_SIOUX", 39.883, 5.023))
	if (gc.getInfoTypeForStringWithHiddenAssert("CIVILIZATION_IROQUOIS") > 0):
		coords.append(GeographicalCoordinate("CIVILIZATION_IROQUOIS", 39.882, 5.024))
which means a civ does not have a location listing which all civs need to be listed no matter what if they are a PLAYABLE civ ingame:sad:

The others loaded fine, and i must say the Giant Earth Map - Pre-Columbian Civs Pre 1500 one, has a dead on location for the Indian Tribes in the USA, nice.

But again i didnt do a start on any of them, so i really cant say yet what is right or wrong after the loading.

See alot of people think its so easy as 1, 2, 3 to do stuff when in all actuality it isn't things are linked to other things going on in a mod, especially THIS one. But with encouragement and fortitude its quite easy when you get the hang of it:)

Pre Columbian Civ map screenshot, pre 1500 civilizations. [Start as Arabia and let a turn pass]
North America (Incans are further South in Peru, didn't bother getting them.)

Progress:
Base Map
-Since it was the basis for the 5 civilization map, it had some units left in the plot files Tweaking them now to remove all teamreveal and unit info.
[Edited and fixed]

5 Civilization map
- The testing map for everything, in theory is completed, removed all instances of teamreveal from the plots, and they no longer have 'Cheers' syndrome.

Pre Columbian Map, pre 1500's
Work in progress, so far I've just removed the extra units that were allocated to the Byzantines, French, and the Holy Romans.
Still need to remove the instances of teamreveal, 'Cheers' syndrome should be fixed, but I will do further testing of it later.

I will eventually post the updated files. Music and coffee are great things.
Whether or not it is truly balanced, I'll find out eventually.

Are there any utilities to help speed up the process, removing 'teamremoval' from the plot information in Pre Columbian preset is going to take a while using notepad.

Edit: Found something called 'WBcleaner', giving it a go.

Since I already have the respective units in their location, I'll be using that as a 'location reference' while working on making the 'starting area'.

Should work. Here's hoping, WBcleaner is a nice little program.
