C2C: Maps & Scenarios

I just created a new game with C2C perfect world mongoose and it has generated swamp in the ocean (not even coast - ocean)!

Save game attached in case that's useful (this is the start of turn 1).
Hmm, have you created a smaller map with PerfectMongoose first and then that larger map without restarting the game?

EDIT: Probably does not even require that it is larger (more likely it was not).

I don't remember for certain but no, I don't think so.

@AIAndy

Had this error on the Mongoose mapscript

Unfortunately that part uses "try" and that trace does not show where exactly the index out of range happened. And that is quite a large block of code and function calls.
Maybe I should remove the "try" for some time and see what error exactly people get then.

If anybody hasn't seen it yet you should look at

I would love to see this map adapted for C2C as well as more ongoing process for the GEM -Giant Earth map fitted with recent C2C resources.
Someone should really talk to this guy. He makes tremendous progress with little time, by himself.

Is there a Giant Earth Map for C2C that has preset civ locations AND it includes Australia?

Ok I took a look at the "C2C Earth - 28 Civs" map on the SVN and made the following changes.

- Added Llamas to South America in their original range.
- Added Camels to the Gobi Desert to represent Bactrian Camels.
- Add a tarpit in California to represent the La Brea Tarpits.
- Removed most Coffee resources except for in Ethiopia, where they originated. Apparently there is a long history of how coffee was smuggled out of that region and over the ages kept getting smuggles out and spread to other lands.
- Removed apples from most places except for Turkey and central Asia where it originated.
- Added coral to its appropriate regions of the world based on range maps I found on the web.
- Added kelp to its appropriate regions of the world based on range maps I found on the web.
- Added rabbits to North America and Europe
- Added 2 mammoth resources, 1 in Siberia and 1 in Alaska as sort of a "lost world" resource.
- Added fossils across the globe based on range maps I saw on the web. Major site include Montana Badlands and the Gobi desert.
- Added Papyrus to the Nile.
- Added Jade near the Maya to represent "Mayan Jade".
- Added "Poultry" to southeast Asia to represent the original range of the "Jungle Fowl" which is wild version of the Chicken.
- Limited Lemons to southeast Asia since that where the originated from.
- Added Watermelons to southern Africa since that's where they originated.
- Added Sea Lions to California, Pacific Northwest, South Africa, Southern Australia, Japan and Chile.
- Added some more Walrus to the Pacific Northwest.
- Added some Elephants to Malaysia.
- Added more squash and pumpkin to North America to make up for the removed apples and potatoes.
- Added marsh terrain to Florida, Louisiana, the Amazon and the Nile Delta.
- Added a landmark in the American Southwest to represent Bryce, Zion and other amazing landmarks there.

If you like it please add it to the SVN and replace the existing ones with this updated one. Thanks!

EDIT: Oh I noticed there was some Aluminum in Europe. It should be "Bauxite Ore" not "Aluminum". If someone could fix that before it gets updated to the SVN.

Is it just me or does the PM mapscript constamtly crash the game during map generation?

Try with the latest DLL (from near the end of the patch thread) and look if it produces a minidump when it crashes.

I've been tinkering around with the Giant Earth Map (Ghengi's version) that was for ROM 2.7, I believe with the resources present in C2C, and so far I've got a lot of the important ones done.

I've only done some simple terrain changes, similar to Hydro's Earth map above, and I generally placed some resources in similar spots.

I tried to deal with the more important resources first, but before I can continue, do I need to ask permission from the original creator of the map before I post my modified version? (I'm posting it, but will take it down in deference to the original creators)
(Also, took some hints for some resource placement ideas from Realism Invictus, another fun mod... mostly for Prime Timber, Amber, and additional rubber placement which I thought the map lacked anyhow)

Either way,
Resouces I've added onto that map. (* was a priority for me)
- Shrimp
- Prime Timber*
- Poultry *
- Fine Clay * (Probably could use some more, put it in Egypt, because Egypt needs help, and in China for the Terra Cotta Army)
- Llama * (Essentially replacing all the sheep in South America)
- Lobster
- Diamond
- Jade (Even the Mayan Jade, because, a culture requires it in that area, area in reference to Hydro's)
- Melons
- Pumpkins
- Squash
- Opium *(Go to Afghanistan everyone! - and the general area)
- Amber (Littering the Baltic coast in Northern Europe, referenced from RI)
- Papyrus (Around the Nile)
- Seals
- Walrus
- Rabbit
- Camel
- Mammoth (Far Eastern Siberia, near Kamchatka and North Western Canada near the Alaskan Border)
- Bison (Literring the Midwest, and one placed in Poland, because the Polish need it for some reason...)

Terrains -
Did some touch ups in the Sahara, African Savanna, Amazon and Niger basins, Austrailia, Siberia, and Canada above the Arctic Circle.
-Volcanoes, an active one in Hawaii, a couple dormants doting the Pacfic 'Ring of Fire' and some other places. (Some are near Geothermal energy sources in general.)
- Coral Reefs, similar to how Hydro did it on the Huge Map.
- Bamboo (In Asia)
-Dates, in Egypt and some parts of the Middle East.
- Other features dote the landscape.

Map changes due to cultures,
Apples in England (English like them Apples)
Hungary (Gave them Deer, under the Carpathian mountain range)
Jivaro (Gave the Hemp in Peru and Columbia, with reference to Realism Invictus)
Olmec (Gems in South Central Mexico, put some there)
Polish (Wanted Bison, not horse? Gave them Bison)

Still need to do (Not updated on the attachment)
Tin (done 01 22 12) - Silver that was replaced. England, Erzebirge (Saxony and Bohemia), Bolivia. Added - South India, North Western Iberia, China (Yunnan), Western Coast of Malaysia, Northern Queensland Australia.
Titanium (done 01 22 12) - Australia (3 in Murray's Basin), South Africa (Kenya and Mozambique as well, 1 each), Canada (2 in Quebec, to represent it holds alot), Norway ( About 2 deposits), Ukraine (2 deposits, one south of Kiev, the other just East of that), India (1 deposit, southern tip), China (In the area of Panxi, Central China), Vietnam (one in the North, and one in the southern portion)
Platinum (done ( 01 22 12) - South Africa (80% of the World's production, put in the Transvaal Basin), Ural Mountains Russia (11%, 1 here and one on the Taimyr Peninsula), Platinum in Platinum Alaska, Sudbury Basin (One in Ontario, near the copper), Columbia (replaced the gold)
Sapphires - Burma, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Australia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Tanzania, Afghanistan, Kenya, China, Montana (U.S)
Rubies - (Similar to Sapphires) Burma, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are the easiest to get.
Flax - Native to the Eastern Mediterranean to India.

Terrain wise, Tar pits.

Cultures I need to get around to,
-Minoan (Need Cow in the Greek area... since I assume noone settles Crete anyhow...)
- Moracccan (Not exactly a priotiry to add Spice in Morroco since it doesn't have anything associated with it yet)
- Vietnamese (Wine in Vietnam)
- Probably more, but these are on the top of my head...

I have 2 versions of the map at the moment, 4 civ start with Babylon (Babylon), China (Xian), India (Delhi) and Egypt (Thebes)... and a no preset version.

and Hello All, I've finally come out of lurking on these forums, I've been enjoying C2C quite a bit. Keep up the Hard work!
Been keeping up with the SVN.

I'll post it again, but the Vietnamese and Venezulean culture buildings produce the same culture resource, Vietnamese.

P.S
Glad to have tips, hints and suggestions!
:D
I want an awesome playable map too you know? :)

Update 01 22 12 - Did the placement of Tin and Titanium.
(Again) - Platinum, Sapphires, Rubies, and Flax.
Finished Terrain for Tar pits - Scattered them about

You are my personal hero Acularius. Thx so much for changing Ghengis map for C2C.

"kiss your feets"

Awesome, Currently working on 3 different maps. 2 of which I know what is in it.
The good ol' classic No Preset Civs option.

Followed by 5 Civilizations preset
China - Qin Shi Huang (Xian)
Egypt - Ramesses II
India - Asoka
Maya - Pacal II
Sumeria - Gilgamesh (Lagash)

(In brackets are where the cities would be.)

Then, the one that will take the longest will be Pre Modern Civs (Pre-Columbian, or before 1500 AD)
Pretty much all the Civilizations other than the Dutch and the Americans which hapen after the 1500 mark, so that's about 38 civs for this map.
I haven't started yet, but the Middle East is going to be fun for anyone wishing to play one of the unfortunate sods in the area. :D

Currently balancing the start of the 5 preset civs with the finished maps. (Making sure they are all placed properly and some don't have 'extra units')
I'll have the first two posted today, and the other should be released today, latest by tomorrow.

Edit: Where can I edit, either text or in the world builder, that all the civilizations start off knowing each other. It is rather annoying, does anyone know? (Or can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome)

Yeah its in the map itself, look for this:

Above post

Hmm, I've put the basic,
Code:
BeginTeam
	TeamID=0
	ContactWithTeam=0
	RevealMap=0
EndTeam

Which should mean they can't see anyone, but that doesn't appear to be the case when I load up the scenarios on my end.
Is anyone else encountering the same problem? (Go for the preset ones, no problem with just the base map.)

id 0 is the id of the human player. Probably needs to be -1 (NO_TEAM is -1)

Now if your talking about a map that has been "used" then you will have a TeamReveal - 1 or something close to that in the actual reading of the line for the map, if thats what you are talking about, thats a whole different ballgame, i started off doing maps. So if this is the case i have to go into some detail on one utility i used to use for this for Huge maps, but if you have time, its also easy with Notepad.
