Here are the results of a simple test scenario for the new C3C 1.13beta patch.

This test was based on a random generated world in the editor. No modifications were made to the rules.

I simply created 2 cores equal in size and placement gave the FP site a leader and observed the results.

I think this gives a reasonable approximation of what would happen in a real game but others may disagree :)

If you want a copy of the save or biq then let me know.

It looks like building an FP has a definite effect now. :) What was the OCN for this map? Maybe it is useful to do a test where the FP is built in when the OCN was reached within the original core.

edit: added question mark for clarity...

Hi Space,

This was a standard Pangaea map (100*100) so the OCN was 20.

I placed 18 cities for this first test but if I have time later today I'll add a second ring to each core (independently) and see where that ends up.

Edit: the most iteresting phenomenon I noticed is that Agade (Capital ring 1) improved by 1 shield & 1 commerce when the FP was built. Go figure :)

You might also test adding courthouses and police stations to cities far from the capital.

I read that the capital distance was still important for cities located around the forbidden palace and courthouses and police stations each reduce distance corruption by 50% (multiplicative). So after courthouses and police stations are build the corruption in cities close to the forbidden palace should be very low.

If I take a look at the Kua, it seems as though distance corruption is also reduced somewhat by building the FP, because otherwise the corruption in Kua would be higher (Distance corruption from a city very far from the capital is higher than 50%).

I'd be curious to see the difference between building the FP where you built it vs. in the capital. If I understand it correctly, the effect should be more or less identical in both cases except in the FP city of Akshak which would have more corruption in the second case.

Ahem...

You Can't build the Forbidden Palace in your Capital :)

Really? I guess I never tried, because it's kind of a stupid thing to do. Still, it would be interesting to see what happens if it's built closer to the capital, say in a ring 1 city. My real point is that it sounds to me like corruption is now completely independent of distance from the FP city, but I'd like to see if that's true in practice.

Stay posted, I'm uploading the images now :)

Not so pretty eh? :)

Before FP corruption = 128/257 (approx 49.8%)
After FP curruption = 123/260 (approx 47.3%)

Yeah, really. Consider me confused then.

The patch description says "all cities are still affected by distance from the Real Capital," but Nagsu through Kish are clearly affected by distance from the FP. Could this mean they're affected by distance from the palace and distance from the FP? I wonder what implications that has on FP placement.

Guess I have some thinking to do. :hmm:

Thanks.

Yep,

in the distant FP test overall corrution dropped to 66/258 (approx 25.6%) so that definitely seems the way to go.

I just wish there was any easy way to extract the numbers from a save file to save either posting graphics or introducing errors by typing the numbers into Excel :(
