Do you like the idea of the new C3C(tropical fruits, oasis, tobacco, sugar) resources being luxuries instead of bonus resources? I personally think that it would be better, as sugar and tobacco should definately be luxuries, the other two would be a little strange as luxuries.

By adding more luxuries the game becomes a lot easier...at least to manage the mood of your population....though I thought that sugar was cannibis :) I´m playing the french version and it says cannae....and a picture of some weedy plant thing...but then I figured out It couldn't be...then It WOULD be a luxury...not a bonus resource, heck it would give your cities 3 happy faces but lowering production/science. Then we would only need cocoa leafes and that would add a bonus shield to your mines....

I think that Sugar and tabacco will be good as luxaries but I also think they are good for regular bonus resources as they are. Actually, tabacco will be better to be a luxary rather than a bonus, I guess.

I also think if tobacco was a luxury it should lower the life expectancy..... if you have it, taking one turn more to increase the pop of your cities

I voted to leave them as luxuries, Firaxis screwed up the concept of strategic resources IMO but the one thing they did well was set the right number of luxury resources, and program the map generator to clump them together so each civ gets a relative monopoly, and a valuable trade commodity. Add more luxuries than there are now and you ruin the whole concept of luxury trade. I would like to see tobacco increased to a tile value of 4 gold, though.

The game would be too easy with so many luxuries, and it would reduce the need for trade and/or wars to acquire more resources

Ahh, right. :) I would also like to see tobacco have a little more gold to it to compensate for it not being a luxury, unless they change it to one, which I doubt.

I think that they should try to minimize the amount of strategic resources, and scatter them a bit. I think that there are just the right amount of strategic resources, and we dont need to make any more

I have played with them as luxuries. It did make the game way too easy.

Even though I woulda been glad to boot incense to make way for sugar, it's best to keep it to 8 luxeries.
