C7 suddenly won’t launch anymore - any ideas??

I have played c7 almost every day for about 188 hours with no crashes or issues at all. Played last night with no issues. Woke up this morning, click play in Steam, select d12 or Vulkan, click play, looks fine for about 5 seconds then just stops. Won’t launch at all.

I have tried…

- Delete legal choice / legal documents files
- Verify Integrity
- update graphics drivers
- make sure white listed in firewall
- uninstall / reinstall
- offline mode
- dx12 and Vulkan

Nothing works. Game just won’t launch at all. Other steam games work fine.

I’m out of ideas. I would appreciate any help.

Try Steam offline mode? If I'm not in offline mode, I get huge lag spikes while the servers try to do.. something. It's strange because I have fiber internet, but the game runs like butter when I'm in offline mode. But note that all your momentos and progression will be reset to zero and you won't make any more progress. For me it's worth it, though, so the game runs.

If you get the game freezing interminently, I find that forcing your internet off and on seems to fix it. Just make sure the game recognises that the internet/connection is down. (It says Legends unavailable or something)

I have tried offline mode. No difference.

This is not a crash during gameplay, it literally does not start. Like I click play in steam and nothing happens. After a few seconds the button goes back to saying Play.

If you type "Event Viewer" in windows search it brings up the Event Viewer. Look in "Administrative Events" and "Application". There might be clues there.

Why is Steam prompting you to make this decision every time? Whatever is causing that may be related to your problem.

No, it prompts every time because I reinstalled and have not yet checked the box for "use this choice every time"

If anyone with similar problems comes across this post, the solution that fixed everything for me was to find the two apps called something like “Microsoft Redistributable” in the windows settings that lists your installed apps and use the “Repair” button for both. Once repaired the game started working again.
