So I was linked this (I'd never browse TP for myself) and I thought I'd share. I'm not going to go as far as to say "Faux news is so rasist!!11" but I do have to wonder what editorial standards let that comment slip on to air.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LET’S HOPE THE MAGIC NEGRO DOES A GOOD JOB. LOVE JEN AND JOHN C.

Is this something that shouldn't be unexpected when a station has to fill content 24/7 or is it an oversight symptomatic of dodgy standards?

PS: Whoever Jen and John C are, I applaud your lulz.

I didn't know anyone held Fox News to high standards even before this incident.

Jimmy cracked corn, and I don't care -- my masta's gone away!

Who says the word negro anymore???

magic is quite offensive to wiccans I believe... oh, wait....

the future leader of the Republican party :mischief:

as for the OP: actually that comment is not necessarily racist - it might be merely a joke about the controversy surrounding one of the candidates for the RNC chairmanship...

The "magic negro" references are making fun of a pro-Obama columnist who used that term. Still inappropriate since they're supposed to be a news source and not FARK.

Are you sure it was a pro-Obama article? I read it myself, and it seemed more cynical than "pro"

"Magic negro" is a term used in movies to describe a black protagonist that goes out and helps all the stuck white people. It's basically a word used to describe every part that Will Smith has ever played.
