Hi everyone!

One step to move the mod from alpha to version 1 is to have each civ with a role play victory set.

Rhye is open for suggestions, but development time being limited, the idea is to make things simple for the V1, and we'll see in later versions if it can be improved.

Easy things to implement are for example:
  • controlling (having a number of cities in) a region
  • killing units
  • getting wonders
  • any mechanic already implemented for another civ
For example, we were thinking Ottomans would require 2 cities in each of the continents: Africa, Europe, Asia (excluded Anatolia)

Please suggest and I will check what is easy to code :)

I would suggest 20 points for every Catholic city for Spain, I played a game with it and despite controlling a pretty large empire and meeting the role play conditions I wasn't able to get to 1000 points

I would add control China, Indochina, Philippines, Manchuria, Korea and Indonesia by 1940 for Japan, maybe 80 points for each.

I haven’t got to play in a bit (and still need the latest version) so I can’t remember who still needs RP VCs. Who still needs some so I can think of them? (Also if you have a way I can download the latest I’d love to give it a try)

- 10 points for each turn with the strongest army, it would be calculated as number of units times the strength of the unit.

Ottomans:

- 60 points for each city within the historical area of the Ottoman empire, use the 1700 map border
- 150 points for controlling Constantinople and making it your capital
-5 points each turn for controlling the holy city of islam

Funny aside, a Slate Star Codex post speculated that the atomic bomb could as well have been a Hungarian high school science project based on the number of Hungarian Jewish refugees in the Manhattan project.

Austria Hungary should get points for staying together past 1920 and doing the Manhattan Project, plus points for Vienna being high culture. Maybe points for eliminating Bismark?

I read carefully. I believe that most of them are doable and some nice ideas.
Generally speaking, rather than "control XYZ by 1800" I want to come out with something original, that twists the gameplay. See El Dorado, or Native American goals, for example.
In addition, it has to be AI-friendly, in order to give a shot to every civ to win.
The implementation of these goals will be my priority for next version (v100 or 101)

The good thing is that RPV is point related in this one.
So there is flexibility, we could imagine not reaching all historical goals but compensating with good pop & land*.

* although playing wide is not so fun in Civ 5, so many penalties for expanding**

** who said the worst penalty is loading times? I heard you! :D

Should we give Werner Herzog a nod and encourage Germany (Aguirre) to find El Dorado? I mean, should that be a race amongst all European nations similar to reaching Japan?

Also, I was just giving China a whirl and I showed myself the map and then I couldn't unsee it so I went into the start menu. Nothing weird happened; I conquered Nanjing, made Guangzhou, met India, spotted Mt Everest from the Tibetan plateau... Reviewing the map, thank you for placing gold in Alaska for the Yukon gold rush; maybe put a fish there so that a city could be made? Most wild salmon here in California comes from Alaska anyway and there is a Discovery TV show dramatizing their day-to-day.

My main question:
Would it be easy to offer a filter in the "Select Civ" screen so you could arrange by starting situation, so that you could have all the easy civs on one end and the harder ones on the bottom end? That would be a cool way to have 2 ways to choose your difficulty.

See, my goal is actually to make all civ a similar difficulty in terms of victory. They can be stronger or weaker (represented by stars), but all of them equal chance of success. If we see that goals are too difficult, we make them easier, and vice versa
