Remember also that you can't have two Great Leaders at the same time !
So use your GL as fast as possible so you can get another one

However, you must upgrade the unit before you can generate another unit.....

I am pretty sure I heard that once an elite unit has produced a leader (and by then become a unique unit in itself) it can't produce anymore leaders in the game

Sorry for this double post, but I just thought about one that had 11 leaders in the same round. Are you sure not 2 leaders can appear, or do you have to rush/create army with them immediatly to get the chance again?

Thanks, Turner. That is the first time I have seen a definative answer to this question.

I have had units produce leaders twice. I was playing as the Americans and had a horseman. The horseman became elite, and produced a leader. The leader's name was Washington, so I named the horseman Washington. A little while had gone by, and Washington had survived many wars after being upgraded to Knight and Cavalry. He became an elite again after the upgrade to Cavalry. He won a battle, and suprisingly he produced another GL, Sherman. So he ended up being Washington-Sherman. If you think that is a long name, then you should see one I had in an AW game named Tojo II-Hirohito IV-Tojo IV. So yes, a unit can produce many leaders in a game.

This is exactly how to do it. . . If I have a calvary that makes a leader, it gets name First Calvary if it is the first of that kind. And I've had it where the same unit produced more than one GL, so the name was something like Second Knight Third Calvary. Yeah, it gets long. . .
