i am in a hot seat game with friends and not doing so great. i want to ask another computer player to vassell me but it is not an option when i open the trade windows with these players. it isn't listed at all (rather than being listed and in red because they don't want to do it). however, when i look at the trade window with one of my human friend's it is an option. i am defenitely small enough in size (only 2 cities), so what is the problem? are human's allowed to be a vassell under a computer player?

thank you.

No, it would be too easy to abuse. If you because the vassel of an AI player big enough that they wouldn't likely be attacked then you could easily have no military and put everything into a space or culture victory.

wow thank you! i appreciate the quick response. i figured it was a rule of the game but didn't know why that may be. i understand now.

But can you capitulate to the AI?

No, for the same reasons Minor Annoyance mentioned. It would be too easy to start a war with someone huge, them immediately capitulate to them, then culture/space victory, etc.

It is possible however if you make a worldbuilder save of a game and join in as an AI vassal. Any idea what the implications of being a vassal are, i.e. they demand resources?

Probably, but they'd also give you resources whey didn't need.

Actually playing RFC once, I was playing Babylon and decided to switch to America (I was getting bored) once they spawned. But once I switched I noticed that right before I did America became a vassal of France (for protection against the English probably). Nothing really happened, except most my cities were pissed (Down with Foreign Influence! I think) and Napoleon kept demanding resources.

How'd they vassal if they just spawned? I wouldn't believe that the AI would vassale/accept a vassal that early.

I don't know how it happened, all I remember was that Napoleon was a world power (he was really strong that game). But, actually, when a civ spawns in RFC they always spawn then one turn later you get the option of switching too them... guess they got scared in that one turn they were alive :D
