Can I play this game? Newbie alert

I apoligize for not being computer literate, and asking a dumb question:

I have been a Civilization addict for many years. My computer is a Dell Latitude D600 with a Radeon 9000 AGP 32 MG Display. After looking at the minimum specs on the box in the video store, I assume that I would be unable to play the game on my machine. Am I correct?

In theory no - as you point out its below hardware spec. Its a "thin & light" notebook, has a Mobility varient of the Radeon 9000, adding to performance problems as its weaker than the full video card based 9000 in desktops.

I doubt you will be able to make any meaningfull upgrade to it - it will take 2Gb memory, but without stronger graphics it will not run with any degree of satisfaction.

If you end up with a new buy, by all means post the proposed spec, you'll get many second opinions on the proposed spec - always a good thing.
