[C3C] Can Limited Techs Be Required for Era Advancement?

Can techs that are limited, whether to one civ or a group of civs via a no-era prerequisite, be required for era advancement? In such a case, would other civs be able to simply bypass the requirement, while the civs who have the tech available would be forced to obtain it before advancing to the next era?

I know this has been answered before, but again, 20-year old game plus deteriorating brain equals forgetfulness. Thank you in advance for saving me 45 minutes of searching.

Absolutely - and it only affects civs which can research the tech(s) in question.

I believe this can be seen on a large scale in the mods MEM2 or Anno Domini, which have certain techs that are religion- or culture-specific, yet still required for age advancement.
