Can Macs and PC's play together?

I currently own a PC but my roomie has a Macintosh and we're wondering if/when Civ4 comes out for Mac if we'll be able to play together online. I own Civ4 and the upgrades they've made make the multiplayer option much more appealing.

I am completely Mac illiterate so forgive me if this question has been covered. It seems like Civ3 for Mac didn't have any multiplayer support at all, which seems a bit odd.

From what I've gleaned from comments made here, or somewhere, by reputable sources, there is a good chance that Civ4 will be Mac-PC MP compatible. A good chance, nothing definite.

It seems like Civ3 for Mac didn't have any multiplayer support at all, which seems a bit odd.

Neither did Civ3 for PC. MP was a feature of the PTW expansion, albiet somewhat broken. C3C improved upon the MP feature, but I'm unaware of just how popular MP is among C3C players. Now that Civ3 Complete is coming out on the Mac, Mac players will have MP - but Mac to Mac only. Now, PBEM should be cross platform in Civ3 Complete.
