Can renaming cities affect game saves?

Hello

I'm looking to start a shadow game, and I was wondering something about the game saves I'll be posting.

If I manually rename a city, not through XMLs but choosing a different name when I found the city, would everyone else using my save have the custom city name?

Also, if I choose to rename a city myself, but choose a name that is already on the list of cities, just further down the list, what would happen? Would I end up with two cities using the same name?

You don't have cities with the same name. If you're playing England and manually name your first city "York" then that name is never automatically generated for any of your other cities.
