I agree that diplomatic would be very interesting. Although I don't agree with the map. It should be some of the new maps allowed or at least one with 2 or more landmasses not to make religion spread too easy. That would force you to reasearch up to astro not just up to christianity. Also it would make religion grabbing more useful this though requires very low difficulty to get them all!

Well the idea of pangaea (or any other single landmass map) was to get the gauntlet players to really push the early dates for victory to see what the AP is capable of under prime conditions.

An interesting twist could be adding all the religion lovers as AI opponents.

I agree. It would show the extremely early victory dates achievable using Apostolic Palace (a reason IMHO that BtS should have its own HoF tables).

Even if it were to be a multiple landmass map, it would only require research up to optics (for caravels), not astronomy.
