can we play CIV V without the DVD

You don't need the disc, only Steam. Have you even tried removing it

Once you've installed it, it's tied to your Steam account instead of having a DVD check. This also means, you are able to re-download the game from Steam as often as you want - absolutely legally. You just have to remember your Steam account log-in details.

Note that this connection to the Steam account is permanent, so you can *only* play it with your account, regardless of the DVD.

I didn't even bother to use the DVD (I have retail copy), I just entered the serial into Steam and downloaded the latest version.

LoL i was scared that if i remove the CD my game will FREEEZZE lol so i want to confirm it here first before doing it
its like in my Vid card I have GeForce FX 9800 GT and still using DX9 lol i never even tried running in DX11 coz i dont know if it will work im afraid to explore lol

1 reason is I always tend to left the DVD inside the DVDrom even for other games and that makes scratches to the DVD and may destroy my ROM too
