Can you declare war on your vassal?

Hi. I'm not sure if this question has been asked before, but after patch 3.13 you can theoretically declare war on your vassal by asking for a resource from your vassal and hoping that he will deny it.

However, in my last game I was playing as the Aztecs and vassalized Hannibal and Mansa Musa. I wanted to declare war on them and naturally asked for a resource and tribute. Eventually, I asked for EVERY SINGLE one of their available resources (they had 5 to 6 each) and relations soured but I was unable to declare war on them. So my question is... is this aspect of the game fixed by patch 3.13? Thanks in advance.

No need to fix correct things. You have option to vassalize or not. If they refuse the tribute then you get war or they have met conditions to break free.

It says on the diplomacy screen that "time for tribute...remember refusal means WAR!".

Cathy was my vassal and she did defy one of my tribute requests and I was at war with her instantly.

Whenever a vassal claims war in the later game, i build up missiles and BLOW THEM OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH! I dont care about global warming... I just think they are arrogant enough to refuse.

I noticed something funny the other day.

So Gilly is my vassal, and i ask for sheep, cow, and corn, for 10 coins.

He refuses (no duh)

So i ask again for nothing.

He accepts.... yeah...

there should be an option to release your vassal. eastern europe was vassal of USSR, and Gorbachev released them.
