Hey guys! I lost my Civ 4 Beyond the Sword disc. So sadly I cannot play it until I find it because my computer keeps asking for the CD-ROM.

So lets see if anyone can jog a train of thought for me and help me find it! lol

I have a 3 cabinet stand next to my hamper. The cd was on it and i saw it fall in there one time. I do however think i grabbed it out and put it back on my cabinet. My room is normal sized so i think like 10x10 feet room. I have a loft so storage space underneath it. But i've gone through all of it and have not found it. I checked behind the hamper and cabinet, and in the hamper. Some of my laundry has been done so maybe in the laundry room siting aside? Who knows..

But there's a basic lay out of the situation and description of my room/area it was last seen.

No it has not left my house!

Anyways, hopefully i get a response to jog a thought and possibly find it :D

Funny forum, but hey, worth a shot aye.

Everyone hates steam. But if you had BTS on steam, you would'nt care about the discs. So +1 for steam?

Post your home address, where you hide the key to your door, and a time when nobody will be home.

12345 gotchu lane 5p.m. Warning, no shotgun will be in area ;)

So you play BTS with the disc? If you were patched to the latest version you wouldn't need the disc. The in game patcher built into online play is next to useless. Instead you can download the patches and use the installer exe's here on this site as I did.

I had original versions of the civ 4, warlords, and beyond the sword discs so I believe I started on patch 3.03? Civ4 Complete for example would have started on patch 3.13?You can check your version from the in game menu clicking on Advanced -> About This Build and checking the build version. I needed to download and run patch, 3.13, 3.17 and 3.19 (the latest) in that order. Here are links on this site:

CFC Patch 3.13
CFC Patch 3.17
CFC Patch 3.19

You will still want to find your disc of course, but I can't imagine needing to spin a disc in my desktop when I play long hours of civ....

Thanks a lot sohleks! I can now settle the CIV 4 addiction that's been cutting at me the past two weeks. Life saver! Thank you very much! I patched it and now it's working perfectly :)

If C4C, which lacks DRM, burn some backup disks once you've found it, or back it all up to your hard drive or a data stick. It should even reinstall from one.

NOTE: Only advocating backup for personal use, not redistribution of intellectual property.

EDIT: Jarhead, I did find a crucial disk in my fridge once (not Civ tho). Immediately rushed back to the machine to check I hadn't tried to wedge a mini-pizza in the DVD drive...

The latest BTS patch doesn't need the disc to play, so maybe you should try it.
But, if you want the disc, maybe you... oh, I am not allowed to say THAT word.

Who makes CD-ROM sized freezer pizzas?

They sound dangerously convenient.

Well, approx the right diameter, but they're a little deep-dish for a DVD drive, Goodfellas I think. Funny what can get into PCs though, popped round to a friend's house to find him cleaning masses of Bolognese sauce out of the 3.5 inch floppy drive (yes, it was a while back). Never figured how he got so much of it in there, no small children around to blame (they will always find a way to do the impossible, of course).

Did you maybe put something else (another CD?) on top of it and then put both somewhere else without knowing it? I once found Mrs vandermerwe's engagement ring in the rubbish after she put a tissue on top of it and threw both away. At least, that was her explanation...

Alternatively, Civ 4 Complete is currently on sale for a bargain £5.45 (=€7 or so, I guess) on Amazon.

:agree:
,it's only a small file, even compress it with 7Zip to make it much lighter.,then store it in ur back up drive..that's what i always do('coz i don't purchase games online and civ4 games are super rare in our area)

..maybe i can help you..;)
EDIT: ..i'm a good detective.

,.you gave me another Great idea,. he should also look somewhere else in the kitchen...perhaps in the microwave..:mischief:

maybe :

your friend used it for beer mat (it was so nice and shiny)
your wife used it for jewelry (it was so nice and shiny)
your baby used it for a baby mobile (it was so nice and shiny)
your sister used it as a mirror (it was so nice and shiny)
your kid used it for blinding the busdriver (it was so nice and shiny)
or...
your (now ex-) best friend stole it from you. You did wonder why you havent heard from him for a looong time, and when you call him, there is this somewhat strangely familiar Baba Yetu track running in the background.

Does it need a cd? For some reason now i dont need a cd, i use to always need one then oneday for some reason i tried to start it without it and it worked. The only thing i can think of that did it was the better ai mod, that is the only mod i used and it didnt need a cd any more.

Alternatively, ask yourself "if I were my BtS disk, where would I hide?"

I just asked mine and he said he'd hide in my Civ 5 case, as he knew I'd never find him there:mischief:

My only thought is that it is still in the drive and the drive is no longer working.
