Can You Run it?

CPU PASS
Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.0 GHz
You Have: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz

CPU Speed FAIL
Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.0 GHz
You Have: 2.97 GHz

Such fun.

Or he's got a PPC Mac (and considers the Intel ones to be inferior for some reason?)

OK, I am also facing the same problem here. All minimum system requirements passed EXCEPT the CPU speed! My CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo processor 2.53Ghz!

This tool is broken! Please do not follow this!

I think this site if used properly as a foundation could be good. However the software seems too glitchy to be an end all be all guide.

Like i said earlier. IT says i cant run CIV 4 yet it runs perfectly, but it says i can run civ 5.

The important thing for people worried is 2 things
Processor should be at least dual core
Video card should have at least 256 mg dedicated memory

All other factors are secondary

Same here. This tool is somewhat ... broken. I know I will be able to play. Just how is what worries me.
edit:
Oh actually I just realized I even almost meet recommended specs :D Except that my CPU is 2 Duo and not Quat (but a fairly good one) and my graphics card is HD 4570 instead of HD 4800 [which the website failed to realize at all], though got 1GB instead of 500MB).
Anybody care to advise what the difference in the graphic card can mean for me?

The CYRI website did not recognize the HD 4570, because there seem to exist no such thing ;)
You seem to have a mobility HD 4570, which has about 1/6 of the raw power of a HD 4830 and about 1/2 of the "minimum" HD 2600XT, but should at least be faster than the i3 IGP.
1024 MB or 512 MB is completely irrelevant for this class of card, probably even 256 MB would make no difference at all.
Expect to have to run it on low graphics settings, and it getting a bit sluggish occasionally

lol well i guess thats a necessity as well. But these days storage space has dropped significantly in price. I assumed that anyone who would be on a civ forumn highly anticipating the release of civ 5 would probably have enough hd space allocated for civ5.
i guess one shouldnt assume : P

sorry if this was already posted, but for those nervously awaiting civ and worried if their pc will run it... the website www.canyourunit.com will diagnose your pc to determine if its up to snuff. Enjoy

just a heads up i had difficulty getting the software to run using IE or Firefox, but it worked fine in Chrome.

It doesn't work on firefox, but it does in IE8

anyway, I found out that my laptop can run it, but that it doesn't meet recommended requirements. Also I found out that this addon is pretty major fail.

It said that the minimum requirements were a 1.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 duo, well I have a 3.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo. I think the speed made it mistake my Core 2 duo for a Pentium D

But it seems that my desktop will be able to max out Civ V

Should run fine with me, i bought quad core cpu back in 2008 (Intel core 2 quad Q9450) when i builded my current computer, at that time most people were saying that one should NOT buy a quad core prosessor because it is just waste of money.

Thank god i "wasted" something like 50€ more and went with the quad core. If i would have "saved my money" and went with the core 2 duo processor then i would propably want to upgrade just about now and that would cost quite a bit because i would also have to upgrade my motherboard (because of the new socket). Also GTA IV wich i played pretty much at the time would of been crap with just a dual core. :(

This tool is marvelous! It upgraded my video card to 2.1GB memory. :D

Haha I failed. Looks like the "CPU Speed" is broken:

CPU Speed: FAIL
Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.0 GHz
You Have: 2.67 GHz

Also says:

DirectX version
Minimum: DirectX® 9.0c
You Have: 10.0

Still a pass, but I definitely have DX11. I'm betting most users can safely ignore the CPU Speed test.

Yah that site is glitched for me too, claims I failed cpu speed despite the fact the minimum requirement is roughly half of what I actually have. Should be able to handle medium settings just fine.

1/6?! 1/2?! Seriously?
Meehhh... -.-

This tool is marvelous! It upgraded my video card to 2.1GB memory. :D

I've got that beat: it took my video card up to 4GB of memory, but then nonetheless (incorrectly) told me that it still didn't meet the recommended specs.

I have an AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor @ 3.6ghz with an ATI Radeon HD 4870 1gb RAM + 6gb RAM. I just scrapped over the minimum on this test. It's the processor thats bringing me down, but I've read lots of places that suggest a faster clocked dual core is just as good if not better than a slower quad. Will just have to wait and see I suppose.

Got the highest score so should be able to go max except for late in the game

Then again, it also just said I passed everything on Crysis and I doubt I could play that on high settings

but I've read lots of places that suggest a faster clocked dual core is just as good if not better than a slower quad.

If we are talking about gaming performance, then there is nothing noticeable gained with dual core in games when compared to quad core if the software is only taking advantage of two cores. But dual core might in some cases take a noticeable performance hit when compared to quad core if the software is designed to multicore platforms. Also, i can clock my Q9450 to 3,2 ghz (still ultra stable) and i belive there is no noticeable gaming performance gained in todays games clocking beyond that.
