Can you see if a deal is acceptable?

Hi

Simple question: When trading with somebody, is there a way to tell if the deal will be acceptable without actually terminating it.

I'm missing the advisor of Civ3 which told you immediately whether the other party will accept the deal.

Not that I'm aware of. I'm guessing the advisor made it too easy to fine tune your offer to give the minimum acceptable amount. In Civ IV, you have to make an offer and see if the other leader accepts it. But you can still fine tune gold offers. :)

Yeah, just click what would make this deal work and usually they will counter with what they believe is acceptable. Most of the time techs with equal value are traded fairly and then if you're giving one with more value the AI will counter with gold in the amount of the difference if they have it. Otherwise they'll give you as much as they have. Unless, they don't really like you and then they will demand more. On harder levels it can be difficult to trade anything fairly as they seem to want more for less...

Yeah, I sort of missed this in Civ IV, not because it was fair or particularly a good idea, but I was so used to it. It's better gone though because it was stupid that he could know exactly what the enemy would accept and not being totally sure gives it a little more atmosphere.

Just raise your offer slowly, eventually he'll accept it. I don't think you get a reputation hit for that. At least I haven't.

The only reason I miss them is because I replaced all original advisors with play mates and porn stars. :p

You can still achieve pretty much the same effect by initiall offering little and then increasing it till they accept.

So Diplomatic MM is still in
