In light of Canada's drubbing of the Americans in the men's hockey gold medal final, I suggest that the Canadian civ's UU should be Martin Brodeur!

Martin Brodeur- 1.25.1

:D :D :D :D :D

gg.

Even though my name is canadnbcn, i'm not canadian, its just pizza toppings. However i did see the good old gold medal game today and it was awesome, even if the U.S. didnt win.

Good job you canucks!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Who would have thought our piddling little country (in pop. and $$ spent) would come in 4th overall in the # of medals won either!:sheep:

PS sorry about the sheep, I just hadn't seen it before:D

Yeah! We finished fourth with 17 medals! We got more medals than Russia! M'fu**ing Russia! If it wasn't for Germany and their record-breaking medal haul, the Americans would have won, though.....their previous high was 13, then this year they go out and get 34! Go figure.......;)

bottom line; congrats USA for your medal count

congrats CANADA for winning the only medal us Canucks really cared about! :goodjob:

I am an American... Who loves hockey! Congrats to
Cananda for winning the gold. Took you long enough though;) Brodeur was good but Richter was spectacular, if it wasn't for him we wouldv lost by double digits! and Damn those Russians cry alot:mad:

Peace - OUT:lol:

:goodjob:

Congrats Canada.

At least we don't have to listen to Gretzky whine anymore.

Who? The COC, that's who. They predicted a third place finish. They are also talking about winning the games in Tourin. A wee bit optomistic, IMHO.

I was driving back to my place at about 10:30pm EST last night, and there were still people in the streets waving Canadian flags and generally going nuts. You would've thought that the excitment would have died down 6 hours later, but I guess not..

As for the Brodeur UU, I'd make his movement rate zero instead of one to make sure he remembers to stay in the damn net and not try to stick handle the puck!

You might aso consider a Fleury UU which is just a standard infantry unit but has a 25% chance each turn of going nuts and attacking the nearest mascot around. :)

On second thought, we should probably avoid any mods that involve hockey. I'd be concerned about flooding the forums with countless threads about the Swedish unit attacking the Belarus unit and losing!

We could always explain away ridiculous combat results by saying the other unit was doped up though. :rotfl:

I don't know hockey from cricket, but congrats to the Canadians!!!:D

One question though, if hockey is the national sport of Canada why has it been 50 years since you guys won gold at the Olympics. (Just curious, not trying to cause trouble :crazyeyes )

The national sport of Canada is actually lacrosse, not hockey.

Be very careful. There are two ways to get Canadians angry :
1) Tell us our hockey teams suck.
2) Tell us our beer sucks.

I'm pretty sure that the 50 year drought was the result of an international conspiracy.

Lacrosse??? :crazyeyes

Conspiracy? No doubt the workings of the Council of Foreign Relations :ripper:
or the Trilateral Commission. :rocket:

Well, congrats anyway.

We havent won gold in 50 years because until the 1998 Olympics we werent allowed to use players from the NHL in the Olympics so all of our good players were in the NHL not playing for the Red and White. In 1998 we didn't even get Bronze because of some crappy coaching(who the hell doesn't use Wayne Gretzky in a shootout anyway?) Also isn't cricket alot closer to the American game, Baseball than hockey?

You're slightly mistaken Dralix. They are gunning for a second place finish in Turin in 2006, and then they are hoping that they can win the 2010 games. The neat thing about that scenario would be that Vancouver-Whistler is considered to be the front-runner to host the winter olympics in 2010. Imagine Canada winning the winter olympics right at home, that would be great. Especially now that Salt lake did such a good job as host city, you can bet that the IOC is itching to get the winter games back in North America for 2010. Oh, and yeah.......

Martin Brodeur- 1.25.0

Theo Fleury- 57.4.1 (special ability: go CRAZY)

:crazyeyes

Alright, you've had 24 hours to celebrate, now I've got to sober up from the big post game bash and start performing modly duties :D Consider this thread closed for being grossly off-topic...if you'd like to celebrate some more and rub the Swedes noses in it feel free to visit the Off Topic section where there's about 3 of these floating around.
