It's probably not needed, as war will eventually break out no matter what. But a DP with America is helpful(ensures that they won't invade you), and after signing 1 DP, it's wise to sign some more with the more powerful civs(such as Russia).

So with Canada in the picture, how does British late game play go about ? or is its spawn compulsory ?
