Haven't seen the commercial recently but...

I believe the show was called 'An American Stranded in Canada' or something to that effect. I was wondering if you could tell me about it. I believe it was a sitcom.

Was it a popular show?
How was the American portrayed?
How were Canadians portrayed?

Thanks!

It's called "An American in Canada," another miserable attempt by the CBC to produce socialized nationalist entertainment. Their news, arts and troupe comedy stuff is ok, why can't they just stick to that?

It's about some reporter/weatherman/who knows what who accidently accepts a contract doing TV in Canada. He's trying to get himself out of the miserable Canadian conditions he's forced to work in by applying to big American channels, but the tugs of love and friendship are keeping him here...

No doubt, he's working for the CBC, since a good deal of CBC content is absurdly self-referential. "Lead item on tonight's news: The CBC cut 8 jobs today. And in other news, Quebec seceded this morning..."

That's all I know from TV guides and the like; I think the title itself panders to the worst in embarrassing Canadian nationalist schtick, and I'm sure the comedy and content is equally sad, so I've refused to watch it, aided by my recent decision to abandon cable TV altogether. :D

You can rest assured that if it's Canadian and it's not news, "This Hour Has 20 Minutes," Hockey, or "The Royal Canadian Air Farce," no one is watching it.

Whatever. It deserves to lose the two minutes. It's crap now that they've lost Mercer.

You buyin' Victoria or wot?

I like the show. I think it is funny .

Hey, I watch Nature of Things, and have done so for 20 years now. ;)

That said, you analysis of Canadian "television" is plenty accurate RIII.

I've seen that "American in Canada" show and it's an insult to both countries, and further proof that this country needs to get a life. This continued smacking at America due to our own inferiority complex is embarassing.
