Events (with a popup, even if its only one choice) are not applied until you click one of the choices. That means in MP games, if you exit the game with the event window still up (click X if windowed, unplug network cable, or any other method) the event goes away. As such, you can avoid bad events and only accept the good ones. Since there is no message until you accept the event, the other players don't even know you did it. see thread here for some discussion. I discovered it at about the same time in a different MP game due to a power outage (and lost the forges event) Not sure how this is fixable, or if it is at all, but I'd appreciate it if someone could take a look at it.
