Hi guys
I just recently got Civ5 and was thrilled to try it out, but as you probably have guessed, "Cannot display this video mode" message appeared, and the game is running in the background, but no visual on screen.
I have an up-to-date Vista 64bit and all the new drivers, and my rig is capable to run the game (I believe the message is from the monitor), I have already searched the net for a solution, but after 3-4 hours most of what I got (about other games, nothing about Civ5) suggested editing the .ini file, but since there's no such file in the game directory, I'm stumped.
Has anyone here experienced this? or does anyone know how to fix it?
thanks, help is much appreciated.

PS: I also tried both dx9 and dx10, no change :(

my rig:
G31M3 MSI-7528, BIOS v1.3, Intel Core2Duo E7400 2.8GHz,
2x2GB DDRII-PC800, Nvidia Geforce G210 @2778MB of VRAM
HDD1 WD 320GB 8MB SATA , HDD2 WD 500GB 64MB SATA
2xLG DVD-RW SATA
MAGIC ATX-650w (3.3v/30A , 5v/33A , 12v/32A , -5v/0.5A )
Windows Vista Ultimate X64 (6.0, Build 6002), DX 10.1

Welcome to CFC :).

 haven't seen that error yet.
In which resolution are you running the game? Your current one might not be supported. Might be possible that changing the game to windowed mode might help.

Your monitor is a TFT and not an old CRT, right?

no, definitely not a CRT, I have a Philips 19" LCD display with max Res of 1440x900, which is my current desktop resolution.
I don't know which resolution the game is running on, as the error message appears just as the intro ends, so I can't see the main menu.
The Run in a window option seems like a good idea, but I couldn't find it under Properties>> Compitability
can you remind me of its whereabouts? thanks
