Cannot Locate CD-ROM

Have been actively playing Civ 4 on my lap top. When suddenly I get a message that it cannot locate CD-ROM. Insert correct CD. But the right CD is in there.
I tried re-installing, but it still comes up with the same message.
The problem seems to have started around the time I installed Norton 360. Could Norton be affecting my start up?

I recently had the same issue as the above user. I own Civ 4 - Gold Edition and am running it on Windows XP.

The game seems to have installed correctly but when I place CD 1 in the drive and run it I get the "cannot locate CD-ROM" error. I have tried every CD (1-3) and the manual CD even. The direct Civilization4.exe path gives me the same error.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Are you both talking about Civ4 without addons, or with Warlords/Beyond The Sword?
Did you update your installations with the latest patches?

For me it's just the basic game. No add ons.
I installed the latest patch as you suggested, but the problem persists.
When I put in the CD-ROM, it gives you that initial menu asking you if you want to play. But when you click it it says "Cannot Locate CD-ROM"
I don't understand it. I have been playing the game trouble free for years and then suddenly this problem. Very odd.

I've tried the different recommendations, but to no prevail.
I know Civ 5 is coming out soon at which time I'll probably no longer be playing Civ 4, frustrating none the less. Been wanting to play Civ 4 for some time now.
