Hello all,
New member to CFF with a tech support issue. I recently (yesterday) did a system restore due to issue unrelated to Civ4. I'm running both programs on Windows XP. Now, when I place the game starts I have three the standard three choices: Play, Read Me or Exit. When I click play, I get the following error message:
Failed Loading XML file Assets//XML\GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml
When I click the okay button, I get a second error message:
Load XML failed for GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml. Current XML is:
Conversely, when I go into the control panel to Add or Remove Programs and attempt to delete either game, I get the following message:
Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Then, oddly, I have two options: Debug or close. There isn't the standard "report this problem to Microsoft" button.
For obvious reasons, I don't want to delete individual files but I did not that my system restore created a "backup" of several of the game files in the Program Files folder (each new folder has (2) behind it).
Help!
