Can't build Mining Inc

I'm playing BtS with the latest Official Patch and Bhruic's Unofficial Patch
I saved a Great Engineer and researched Corporation and Railroad
I have Coal, Copper and Iron.

The icon for founding Mining Inc appears but is greyed out. I've tried sending my Great Engineer to several different cities including the ones working the resources but he can't found the Corp in any of them.

I presume I'm missing something obvious. Anyone know what it is?

The most common explanation for this is running Staate Property civic. Corporations don't work under SP and can't be founded/spread.

Lemme guess. The usual answer is you have a civics problem. You're in State Property, aren't you. State Property civs do not allow corporations, either domestic or foreign.

I would say RTFM, but actually people have to read ALL of the f'n civilopedia or CONTINUOUSLY keep up with the relevant forums: CFC & Poly.

Unless you have another competing corporation there, found it in your wall street city (whether current or pending).

EDIT: Well, I took to long to type that up, didn't I. I THINK Bhruic's allows you to found with Merc., but if so it was recent version. I suggest you make sure you have the latest version, and check the last month or so of posts in the thread.

It's nice that someone here knows everything. I almost made a similar post, because I pretty much NEVER run SP, but for whatever reason, felt it was the civic of choice, and then get that magical merchant.... Luckily, I figured out what my problem was before I could hit the POST button.

If you're not running State Property, and you've tried several cities, I can only throw out guesses. Save your game and switch to Free Market and see if you're able to found the corp then. If so, then it would appear that you can't found them in Merc'ism, which would be a bug.

Get Bhuric's unofficial patch. He fixes the bug that won't allow you go expand your corporation under Mercantilism. Or switch to Free Market. You're better off using that civic anyway, as there's less maintenance costs for corps.

The patches should be backward-save compatible, so you could probably just get it now. (Backup your current DLL file before installing it, if you're worried though.)

You might just want to check that Bhuric's patch is properly installed, (I had that problem... under Mercantilism, can't found Mining Inc... then I realized I hadn't put Bhuric's in the right place, corrected it, went back to the save and it worked fine.)
