Hi all,

I have an annoying problem with civ3 play the world. Everytime I try to conquer a city it destroys and only ruins are left. There comes no alternative to choose from capturin city or razing it like it did with civ3 normal version, without expansion pack. I have heard that city size makes the differenece, like if citys population is only 1 it automatically destroys, but I haven't seen that even ones in civ3 original and now everytime with playtheworld. Is there somekind of setting to put off that city capturing is enabled? I tried to look everywhere but without results. Very annoying, I need to keep playing onlu the original if I canät get this thing work. Anyone with the same problem or even a fix for that??:confused:

A size-1 city will be destroyed if it has no culture. The exact amount varied between patches. If a size-1 city has expanded its borders, it is guaranteed to have enough culture, though.

If cities larger than size-1 are being autorazed, something else is going on.

1.16F added the autoraze in vanilla and it is in all version of Civ III, PTW and C3C. YOu need to have either culture of 10 to expand the borders or size greater than 1, prior to capture or the pop be native AFAIK.

Regarding nationality, a size 1 city will not auto-raze if the citizen has a different nationality than the defending civilization.

Speculation: This may apply more generally such that the population of any city does not decrease if no citizen is of the defender's nationality.

So, say I capture a Russian city, with a pop of 1, that citizen being Aztec. It won't raze, despite having no culture?

That is correct.
